A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about an abandoned boat that seemed to be making its way along the canal.
It finally came to a stop behind the other boat in the picture, but I guess they’ve had a bit of falling out and it is now on this side of the canal.
It has been further vandalised, but I guess it still repairable as it hasn’t sunk yet! There is a registration number, so they should be able to find the owner.

It seems odd that a few weeks have gone by and the boat has yet to be rescued and/or claimed.

@Chellezhere Never thought about it, but I don't think there are dry docks on the canal. From what I've seen they just lift them out and work on land. I guess not that many boats go missing and there is no real system to hunt them down

@Ronrybs I think here, authorities would have put the boat in dry dock by now, while still searching for the owner.

@RebeccasFarm Yes, you can't see in the photo, but behind the boat is a little camp. On the way to those boats, I pass another boat where they have set up a grill and hibachi alongside the tow path

Often I wonder why the police does not try to find the owner. This also happens with cars. I remember in Italy we used to see "abandoned" (surely stolen) cars. A few times I decided to check the insurance company and insurance number, I called the company and they found the owner, but the police never moved a finger.

@Ronrybs it would be good if the abandoned boats were all gathered into a place where one might be able to look for their missing ones.

@Tampa_girl7 There are so many boats that space is limited. Not far from where these boats are is a marina and it is jammed packed. Canal boating is very popular for leisure and living

I hope they do, but if it's in poor shape and got lost, it probably no longer belongs to anyone.

Maybe the owner did not want the boat anymore or someone stole it and left it.

I hope that the owner of the abandoned boat is found soon.
