Short story: A Rabbi explains about our true nature

Our spirit is the energy of love within us

Rabbi Derdeth Kollaski, had been asked by a student of his, what exactly was our nature, our spiritual nature, not our human nature. Here is how he answered the lad. '"The greatest religion is to be true to your own nature. Have faith in yourselves."' "Swami Vivekananda, (1863 to 1902) a great Indian spiritual figure said this." "What is our nature though, and how can we be true, to something that is presumably growing, and changing too?" "Your nature is not what you think that it is, as it is not your personality, your mind, or your thoughts, which are mere trappings to that which your essential nature is. In fact, your nature is your soul, your unique soul, fashioned for you by God with love, and with certain innate gifts, and ways unique to itself. '"All truth is eternal. Truth is nobody’s property; no race, no individual can lay any exclusive claim to it. Truth is the nature of all souls."' "Swami Vivekananda, said this too." "As we can see here, the Swami agreed with this, as he thought that our soul's nature was truth, and our soul is made of truth, love, and essentially of God. It is a spark of God, in your body." "Now, our human nature is common to each one of us, and is our way of thinking, feeling, and behaving, which shape our personality into broad spectrums, such as whether we tend to be extroverts, introverts, trusting, calculating, peaceful, or angry types." "Our spiritual nature is something else again, though." "It is not just our beliefs, as it is greater than any belief. It is the seed of who you are, and from which you should grow from, when you live from love, and your heart guides you forwards in this growth. It is the root of your very being." "You can connect to your spiritual nature, by being still enough to hear its voice, as it's your spirit talking to you through your soul." "Our spirit is the energy of love within us. Our soul is the spark of God, love's engine working with its fuel, your spirit, as well as working also with God's spirit, which is always coming into it too." "Think over what I have said, and come back to me tomorrow, with any questions that you might have," he said to his student, and concluded his talking for that night. When we drift away from our true nature, the inner knowing, we will know no peace. Our conscience pricks to start with. The world around us influences us but we should always not waver from the yearnings of our soul which is connected to the universal soul of creation. We need to be true warriors to strengthen the whole so that we contribute with all our might to the creative process. Obviously, we have moved away from the path of righteousness.

Yes, for sure the path of righteousness has not moved away from us, but we have moved to a path of rioteousness instead. We need to reconnect to our souls, and to God, and live rightly, rather than wrongly, based on selfish motives, and greedy intentions, instead of living from love, truth, and the rightness of God, within us too..

@Shiva49 Nicely worded, siva. Yes, we need to look past our surface looks to what lies deeper, as the real us.

@innertalks The day we establish that firm connection to our souls that day will mean a seachange in our lives for the better away from the cycle of viciousness that has a chokehold on our outlook.

What a thought-provoking discussion. Yes, I have read that we should be true to our nature. And from what I understand our spiritual nature is fashioned by God with His love, so it's a good one. And human nature? I will have to understand this first. Thank you.

Thanks. I think that our spiritual nature, and spiritual personality, are given to us by God, similar to how he gives us spiritual gifts, as the Bible tells us that he does. Some of the gifts of the Holy Spirit are often said to be these ones, wisdom, understanding, counsel/pastoring, fortitude, knowledge, piety, faith, healing, teaching, tongues, and prophecy. But, it is our spiritual nature that allows us to live from these gifts, in the best of ways possible.

@innertalks Yes, I understand now. Indeed, the Holy Spirit allows us to have wisdom, understanding, faith, being able to forgive, etc. which we would find hard to do if we don't have the Holy Spirit.

@Jenaisle Yes, the Holy Spirit floods us with all that is good, and inspires us, and instructs us, in how to live from that good.

These are very deep thoughts and subjects. We could expound on this exponentially. Spirit and soul and nature..all work in tandem as God has designed.

We do need to be not afraid of the deeper waters of life, though, instead of staying in the safer, more shallow waters, and never growing past that shallowness of thinking, and living, anymore at all.

Yes, if God is immortal, so must our soul be too, as our soul has the spark of God in it, and was created by God.

@manikarnika We can be love too, as God is love, and his nature is to love, as is our true nature, to love too.
