Does it frustrate you when people do not respond to comments on MyLot?

I like leaving comments on MyLot, whether it is in response to my own posts or on others' posts. My favorite thing on MyLot is when an interesting conversation gets going. Not only do we make more pennies, but we become a part of something that's enjoyable. Recently I noticed that many MyLot comments go unresponded to. Are people posting and then forgetting to go to Notifications and respond to the comments they get? I don't know. Do you enjoy ongoing conversations as much as I do? Do you try to respond to comments on your posts and comments? Photo is from my Montana neighbor's movement camera.

I guess so. I was frustrated when I wrote a discussion a week or so ago, and it wasn't short, at the behest of another mylotter. And then that mylotter never responded at all. When something like that happens it stands out. But not getting a response from a response? Maybe if that particular earlier response was pretty smart, and I was teased with the start of a clever conversation that went nowhere. Then you start to wonder if people read their notifications at all. However, with your subtlety, maybe they aren't aware you desire more of their input.

@TheHorse I like that you respond, and your replies are never canned. You did once confuse me so badly that I sat for a solid three minutes trying to think of how to respond to your reply, before finally having to settle for a one word answer.

There are times when I start a discussion and don't answer right away, maybe even a day or two. But, I always answer with the best posts I can. I feel bad if I could not answer. If you care enough to respond to me, I sure as heck want to respond back. Many of you are like family to me and each of you is important.

I know that I occasionally miss a response or two but it is not intentional. I do try very hard to double check and respond. There are a few people who want you to respond by always asking questions in their posts. That’s a good way to get a response, but then a few never bother to respond on other’s posts at all. Then they wonder why no one is responding on their posts anymore, if that makes any sense!

There are people here who think they get paid for writing a post. That is not how it works. You get paid for responses. If you typically don't respond to others, they will start to ignore you. I have had conversations with some people here without knowing what they are talking about. I can give some generic answers to let them think I understand their topic. I also like to answer newcomers when I can and encourage them to write and have fun here.

@akalinus I think it's often hard for some people to join a new group, a welcome encouragement is a good thing, I think.

Of course, I like responding to people who commented on my discussions. It helps me learn new things and interact with people. I always respond to the comments in my posts before posting a new discussion. I want to show some respect to the people who took the time to respond. Also, I make it a point to respond to the person's own discussion. As they say, "Like begets like". If you want people to respond to your discussions, you have to take the time to respond to their discussions too. And the good part of this is that I am able to earn more doing these activities.

I do get annoyed if my comments get ignored, because it means I'm not getting paid, even if my post got someone else paid. When I post, I always try to reply to everyone who posted on my discussions, or comments. Sometimes a lengthy conversation comes out of it, too.

@TheHorse Like I just told @DE, I try to respond to discussions and threads. I am sure I miss things especially on the longer threads. Sometimes, I get blindsided by notices.

I am trying to respond to Kayla but the discussion space is under another name. I always try to answer your posts if I see them. It is hard to figure out who answered what when the posts are down the page somewhere. It gets confusing.

Well, I like the pennies. But it ain't really about the pennies. It's about acknowledgement. At least for me. If I bother to support you by commenting on your post, at least say something...anything...back.

There are a very few myLotters who don't understand how myLot works. They leave a discussion and then never return to it. I look at other discussions by each user before I do more than respond to their first one... If they don't comment back to responders, I don't bother responding to them again. *shrug* One thing that does frustrate me is when someone is too lazy to look at their own comment to see why I responded the way I do. Just because I use the word "that" in a comment, referring to their last comment doesn't mean I'm going to keep the conversation going when they pretend they don't know what it's in reference to.

I love the longer discussions. I try to comment as much as possible but there are days I just don't get on it. I stop commenting when it gets boring. Some people just keep rehashing the same information in slightly different ways. I stop when I can't add any new information to the discussion or when no one responds to what I am saying.

@TheHorse Me too. I remember some that I still laugh about when I think of them. Laughing is good for you, I think. Some of those discussions got pretty wild and I loved them.

@akalinus greed. Consulting my Clever Comment Dictionary right now (sent to me by Greg from Iowa), but it clearly states that you cannot be funny while responding to comments about being funny.

I tend to be "selfish" and respond to comments on my posts before visiting others' posts. Because of that, I sometimes miss others posts.

I only enjoying being here when I can "discuss" with myLotters. I stopped commenting on those who never respond to comments. It's not only a matter of earnings, but I think it's rude not to respond. You allow them to earn, they give you nothing.

I always respond to comments. However, the last comment sometimes pops up the one it's answering so things get out of kilter. It didn't use to happen but it's been going on a while now.

It has happened to me where I respond to someone's discussion and all I get is a like and that is it. Not a fan of that because I like to have a thread going. That's when it's interesting. Not sure why that happens. Perhaps the person doesn't know how to respond to my response.

@TheHorse Perhaps if the comment is more generic people don't know what to say. Unless people are just not in the mood to keep the conversation going.

The old version of My Lot, those longer conversations were popular. Now, many don't care it seems, to others or what they're going through. A short, "Oh, my goodness!" Then, it's over.
