I Said I Wanted My Car to Be a Different Color...

...and when I went out to go to work this morning, it was! Not in a good way, though. The foundation crew's equipment takes up a lot of our complex's driveway, so we've been having to park at a nearby park. They get here so early in the morning that everybody has been leaving their cars at the park overnight. We've all done it before without issue, but apparently my BRIGHT WHITE car was too tempting a target to resist. Someone took a can of brown spray paint and left squiggly lines all down the side of it. I took my husband's car to work instead and he dealt with making the police report for me. This evening we went to Walmart and I grabbed a 6 ounce bottle of Equate non-acetone nail polish remover for $1.05. We put it on some microfiber cloths when we got home and with a little elbow grease we got just about all of the spray paint off of it! All that's really left is a little bit on the tail light. I'm a little bummed that I don't have a "real" excuse to repaint my whole car a different color, but you really can't beat such a quick, easy, and inexpensive solution!

I'm glad it was so "easy" to fix. It's a shame you don't know who did it, and can't introduce your foot to their a...um, rear.

The color and style matches that of the group that's been regularly tagging the park over the last year, so it was probably them. My husband pointed out that it's perfectly legal where we are to install cameras that cover both our vehicles in the driveway and happen to have enough range to catch activity at that section of the park, so we may end up doing that eventually. After watching how much work the crews do to fix up the damage they cause I'd love to see the whole lot of them spend a few weeks working with the graffiti removal crews.

Ugh stupid vandals . It sucks that they did that to your car, but you're fortunate you were able to get it off like that (not everyone can do that successfully).

Yeah, it was really fortunate that it worked out that way. I was afraid that it might not after sitting like that in the sun all day.

I'm so glad it was. If I'm going to have it repainted I'd like it to be entirely on my terms and not because I felt like I had to!

I'm glad it wasn't something you had to turn in to your insurance company and the repair work wasn't too difficult. I had to do something similar to my bright red Daytona ages ago. Somebody thought it was funny to paint racist remarks all over it. (I was dating a black woman at the time.)

I am, too. I really wasn't looking forward to having to make a claim on that coverage so soon, and I didn't want to pay out of pocket for all of it, either. Why do people have to be such jerks about that stuff?

@yukimori I don't know, either... I do live in a very small mid-west city but that shouldn't have mattered at all.

Fortunately they were just squiggly spray paint lines, rather than scratches with something sharp.Utterly detestable ! Who devil did it ? Is there a surveillance video there ?

I am glad it was at least an easy fix. Shame you could not repaint the whole car.

That's so annoying that someone would do that to your car. I've had someone scratch the side of my car with a coin. Unfortunately, nail polish remover wasn't any help with that.
