What an odd scam. Have you heard of Trump Bucks?

I had not heard about this one. And no, I did not learn about it in a SCAM email. It was on my news feed this morning. Some company somewhere, perhaps in Romania, is selling coins with Donald Trump's likeness on them, and claiming that they will be worth thousands of dollars when Donald Trump returns to the "presidency" and introduces a new monetary system. Apparently they had lots of ads on social media, and are targeting little old ladies who are MAGA/conspiracy theory supporters. No, Donald Trump is NOT behind this one, though the deceptive ads seem to imply that he is. If you know any little old ladies who are MAGA/conspiracy theory supporters, please warn them about this one.
In the recesses of the internet where some of Donald Trump’s most fervent supporters stoke conspiracies and plot his return to the White House, suspected con artists have been mining their disappointment over the last presidential election for gold.

I just wrote about this. The MAGA cult aren't known for being well-educated or great critical thinkers.

You did? Lemme stop by. No, they're a vulnerable bunch. But I hate to see them get scammed (for their money, I mean).

I don’t think I know anyone dumb enough or gullible enough to buy them. Potential commemorative items are good potential scams, I guess.

I wonder where they actually make them. It sounds like a lot of people have been suckered.

@TheHorse If old people are falling for it someone in their family needs to intervene and check their mental status. If young people are falling for it they must be honestly dumb.

@AmbiePam We have learned in recent years that there are a lot of vulnerable people out there. And not all of them are little old ladies.

@TheHorse I am not sure that is it either--but there is a certain amount of wishful thinking that plays a part I think

So many factors must play in. Lack of education MAY be a factor. But I'm not sure about that.

@divalounger Is wishful thinking bad? Wait. I guess it depends on how it's defined.

Listen, I have heard some interviews among Trump fanatic supporters... some of them are dumb and gullible enough to believe everything.

@TheHorse - Well as they were all there to listen to Trump and the reporter was walking among them without really choosing, I suspect that there were a lot that did not look like dummies, but were dummies. Yes, we use "l'avvocato del diavolo".

@LadyDuck I know someone with a college degree who is a Trump supporter. But she has mental illness and substance abuse issues.

Maybe they're selectively showing the interviews that make Trump supporters look like dummies. Just playing devil's advocate. (Do the use that expression--devil's advocate--in Switzerland?)

I learned of this scam the way you did, through a news story. The gullibility of the average Trump follower is beyond unbelievable. Some have taken their Trump Bucks to banks trying to cash them in for large payouts. Kudos to the bank employees for not laughing them out the door.

I wonder if the bank employees are being trained in how to give sympathetic looks as they send the suckers toddling off.

@TheHorse You don't suppose it was some MAGA biker in New Mexico who tried to settle his bar tab with Trump Bucks and got shooting mad when the saloon keeper laughed him out of the place?

It's impressive how people can think of different ideas to scam others. They're smart but won't use it to make an honest living.

You're right. It's a scam though it's the first time I heard of this. Instant money or huge money is promised is more likely a scam modus operandi.

I read about this. It's not only old ladies who were suckered. My neighbor told me his nephew was sucked in and spent a large amount on ''Trump Bucks''--he's told him before not to get suckered into these things, but it seems he hasn't learned his lesson on that yet.
