How Do You Watch Your Movies or TV Shows?

There are so many ways to watch movies and TV shows these days - movie theaters, DVD, Blu-ray, live TV, reruns, DVR, streaming or YouTube...which way do you watch your movies and TV shows and why? I haven't been to a movie theater in decades. I remember going to a double feature in the 60s with either a news clip or cartoon added on. The cost was around $1 USD at the matinees. If you wanted to stay in the theater and see the movies and extras all over again, you could. I prefer to watch movies or TV shows either live on TV or recorded on my DVR. I love being able to fast-forward through the commercials. I watch a lot of the Game Show Network. When there's a program I don't care for, I watch my recorded TV shows. Right now I have several I haven't seen yet. It's been a long time since I've watched a TV show or movie on a DVD. I'd rather watch them through a streaming service or on reruns. I"m too lazy to figure out how to run the DVD player and change disks, etc. Right now I have Hulu and Peacock for a $1.99 USD per month for each one of them. Hulu has my beloved "Lost" if I should desire to watch it again (for the 4th time!!!) We've been watching a lot of movies on YouTube. There are limited commercials; and you can watch movies that may not be shown on TV. How about you? Photo Credit: Pixabay

We don't go to the theater very often. Only did this year because we had free tickets. Otherwise we watch them on streaming services, youtube, etc... or buy on DVD; but that is rare too.

The movie theaters are so expensive now; and I'm not real keen on crowds anymore.

I have cable, and after getting my bill yesterday, I will be calling them to whittle it down. They raised the price to a ridiculous amount, and there is no way I am paying that. I probably use my DVR to watch TV more than I watch TV live, and on occasion I use their free On Demand option. I have many TV shows on DVD, but with my DVD player broken I am in no hurry to replace it. I’ve been to the movies three times in the last 6 months, but before that I hadn’t been in a theater for three years. I’m just more of a television person than a movie person. Plus, I can’t sit in a theater for more than an hour and a half without tremendous pain, and movies are really long these days!

@AmbiePam No, they couldn't give us a break at all. They know the other services are just the same. The only option you have is to drop them.

Our internet/TV/phone bill went up to $272. I think that's highway robbery.

Before, I don't usually watch TV programs. Now that I am older, I am enjoying watching TV with Firestick, sometimes on YouTube and my laptop. I can repeat the old movies, tv shows, and lifestyle channels.

I watch them online sometimes on YouTube. There are rare times when I go to the movie house to experience the whole thing, like when I went to the movie house to watch the Busan BTS concert on a wide screen I'm glad I did because I would never have experienced how it feels to be in the stadium with thousands of fans. It was a spectacular experience like I was in the concert myself. I will never forget it.

Mainly DVDs, I often download videos from YouTube, but I burn on DVD so we can comfortably watch them sitting on our sofa in front on the big TV.

@LadyDuck My husband watches all kinds of offbeat YouTube shows. He spends hours watching an Asian woman live off the land, build a house, prepare her food, etc. Have a good week.

YouTube has an endless supply of just about any topic that you can think of plus movies. We watch YouTube just about every night. We also check out the webcams, especially in the Florida Keys.

I don’t go to the movies often. But I saw two movies recently in the theater. Guardians of the Galaxy and Love Again. Usually we watch them on demand or if they are on TV.

@CarolDM The one that won the Academy Award...I can't remember the name of it. We couldn't even watch the whole movie. I thought it was terrible. A lot of people would disagree with us though. Everything Everywhere All At Once. I looked it up.

We have a few apps on our smart tv that we stream through. They are all free apps with the exception of our Bell app, which because we have a bundled discount as our internet and phones are with them, is only $5/month. That gives us alot of stations.

My go to streaming service used to be prime video, but lately they have been very weird and putting lots of movies on rent and so most of the things I want to watch on prime video I can't so no point in having the subscription . Cancelled it ans took netflix subscription for the first time . Now been on it and completed a lot of shows the past 2 months . Now I see why many are addicted to Netflix . I also have Disney+ for watching all the Disney and marvel stuff
