Whether at school or office all of us have at some point in our life either taken the lunch box with us or the lunch box is delivered to us.
While at school I used to go home for lunch as it was at walking distance and while at work I used to get the lunch box delivered by the Dabbawala a system that worked efficiently covering most schools and offices.
What did your lunch box contain?

Re heating your food by the school was a good thing I do not think any one else had such an arrangement.

@LadyDuck But nuns normally eat well. I remember my sister and I were in a singing group that was preparing for an event. On that day they invited us for breakfast and what a breakfast that was!!!

@allknowing The first year Mom prepared the lunch box for me. From the second year I ate the food prepared by the nuns in the canteen. Horrible!

Today the students don't have to bring lunch box since they eat in the school canteen and it is provided everything. Some people will bring lunch to the office with the lunch box but it's not as big as yours. Most of them are very simple like the attached photo. It can be round or square.

That lunch box that you see in the photo has sections for rice, curry, vegetable and a dessert.

Your post reminds me of my little green lunch box that I carried to school every day during my early childhood education years.
The long duration that has passed since then means that I am unable to tell exactly what this bost contained. I can however state that this box bore whatever food we had for supper. My mother did not have the habit of preparing fresh food in the morning,

I can understand your mother' s reason being busy doing the morning chores. We used to go home for lunch and mother would just tease and pretend as though she was still cooking while the food would be ready (lol)

@allknowing You are right. Besides having to perform the household chores all by herself, my mother was shouldering the responsibility for fending for my siblings and I. I am ever grateful for the sacrifices she made to bring us up.

When I was in elementary school my lunchbox usually had a sandwich, fruit or veggie and a dessert, as well as a themos full of milk.
