Advice needed with clothes dryer please

The photo has nothing to do with the post – just an opportunity to put up more horse photos. It’s winter in Australia but it’s a big country so winter in my neck of the woods would be quite different to someone on the other side of the country. Here, it is wet and cold but again ‘wet’ and ‘cold’ are relative terms. We might get a few frosts each year but mostly our minimum daytime figures are in single digits (Centigrade). What I’m getting around to saying is that I don’t use my clothes dryer much as mostly I can get them dried outside if I pick my days. However, I had to use it yesterday and it rolled the sheet up in a ball then chucked a wobbly and started beeping. So I fluffed the sheet up again and the same thing happened. For those of you who regularly use dryers, does this happen to you? Should I have a bigger load in it? Or is it just one of those things.

I'm looking at other's responses because I'm not familiar with that happening. I think having things dried out on a line would be cool, and certainly more cost effective. Unfortunately, my allergies get stirred up on the slightest bit of something attached to cloth. As always, I love the pictures!

@JudyEv Check the plumbing...when you put in the drier, the water leaves right....

@vandana7 I don't think the plumbing is the problem. If all else fails, maybe I'll have to resort to reading the manual.

I think maybe the drum just gets a bit unbalanced occasionally. The same thing happens with the washing machine if it only has a small load.

Partly it is one of those things. I use dry balls which help with larger items like sheets or tablecloths. But not having to use your dryer must be so nice, I love line-dried sheets.

The dry balls sound a good idea. I'll look out for some. It's nice to be able to line-dry. Mostly we have the perfect weather for it.

@JudyEv Although our weather is good for line drying clothes now, the air quality is very poor due to the wildfires burning and we cannot do that the past couple of weeks.

I don't know if your dryer is any different from the ones that we have in the u.s. But, if it's designed to tumble dry, that does tend like to ball things up. Not sure what the beeping means, though.

I guess it's just letting me know I need to adjust the load perhaps.

@JudyEv You would just be untangling the other stuff from the sheet . That one I have done

I thought maybe it needed more in it so it didn't go into a ball.

Great pictures. It will still probably roll everything into a ball, whether you have a small load or large when it comes to sheets and blankets. You just have to go in there and separate things from time to time. Enjoy your day.

Okay, that's more or less what I wanted to know. That it's pretty normal to have to readjust the load from time to time.

@JudyEv Yes. It's especially bad in the washer. The washer walks across the floor. You have to run and redistribute the load.

I just read what you wrote and I am giggling so hard over the ''chucked a wobbly''---OH, I have to find a place and time to use that saying! It's wonderful!

The load should not be too small nor too many, It should just be enough. I think the capacity of the dryer could be indicated on its label.

The clothes in our machine are almost dry and we just air them.

That's good that you can just air them and not have to worry about a dryer.

This never happened to me and often I dry only a few things. I use a dry ball to avoid statics when I take out clothing that are not 100% cotton.

@JudyEv May be it helps. I remember that a few times the dryer seemed to refuse to fully dry some clothing. I never understood the reason.

Not sure about the beeping, unless that is your dryer telling you that it is wobbling, but it can be common for larger things to ball up in the dryer.

I think you're right and it's telling me that it's out of balance. The washing machine does it occasionally too.

Mine has never done that, sometimes a towel will wind up in a ball and still be damp when the dryer stops.

Yes, I've had that happen too. I think maybe it's just telling me it's need a bit of adjusting.

In India we don't use a drier usually. We have a spinner in the washing machine which squizes out all the water. We use a cloth line to spread the clothes which dries very soon.

My washing machine spins out the excess water too. Depending on the weather, sometimes the clothes dry very quickly but not always.

I wish I could help but my dryer broke a few years ago so I only line dry and when it comes to sheets or towels I do as you do and wait for those more or less warmer winter days. I hope someone will give you an idea what the problem could be.

The line is out from the brick wall and things dry really quickly so that's one good thing.
