Car Market

Hi everyone,
So as we know the car market is possibly as high as it has ever been. It may be lowering in pricing a bit but realistically it may take time. Just this year, a drunk driver totaled our family car and we have decided to share while we find something decent but worth the expense. Okay some months pass and now, due to more lenient arrest laws, the catalytic converter of our other car was stolen in the middle of the early morning. The car is worth fixing by insurance so that's pending instead of receiving another totaled car loss. The thing is we still need to replace the family van which was a daily driver along with it being used for heavier loads or planned trips. How has your experience with the car market been lately? Would you wait off, purchase used, find a lease takeover? At this point they don't even want to spend a lot on another car and finding something we'll immediately go for has been a delay as there have been differing opinions and lack of options lol

It may make a difference in what state you're in... (I see you're from the US.) I live in Missouri and have always found it better to buy from an individual instead of on a lot. In Missouri, the seller has to be totally up-front about any problems or they can be sued and have to pay for anything that they don't tell you about when you're looking to buy from them. Most states aren't like that.
I've always gotten good deals on used cars that way. The car I have now is a Buick LeSabre. It's an older car but was kept up very well. I've only replaced the battery and tires in the six years I've owned it.

@wendyy I have no idea about the car market laws in California... I only learned the ones in Missouri because I had to learn them. So far, I've always done well with the cars I've bought over my lifetime...
I hope you and your family do well with whatever you buy next, too.

Hi DE,
I am in California. Yes I think that is great option as well. We've checked offerup or facebook marketplace here and there. We might definitely end up purchasing used. That reminds me of my 2000 Toyota Camry. After six years of owning it, it was sold and it still works till this day, super reliable.

Hello Wendy. How are you doing?
It's been a few years since we sold our car. I think the motorcycle is fine for now.
Don't mind me asking which country are you from?

If you don't mind me asking which country are you from? It would tell much more about your story and how different or same practices and customs are if I knew.

For me, I would find the most cheapest, reliable car I can find.
Also where I live, the car theft and cat converter theft is the highest in the country it has been said.
So..
I am sorry this happened to you..this is really terrible.
I wish you the very best to find something.

Prices are still too high on cars right now, in my opinion. Not to mention rising interest rates. It may not be possible, but if you could wait it out a little longer you might find prices and rates dropping in the next 6-12 months.

I don't have a car and therefore don't have these problems.

Cars there are cheaper than here. Here in my place, owning a car is considered a luxury. But in the busy metropolis, I guess it is a necessity.
But since we're in a city that is not as big as Manila, the easiest way to travel is to use cabs and tricycles instead of private cars.
Our family van is also grounded due to engine failure and I am suggesting to hubby to buy a new one instead of repairing the old van. Because it would always need repair as it's already way past its age. of usability.
