Children in bed with you or in their own beds?

So I am trying to decide what to do here. I have an 18 month old daughter who sleeps in my bed with my husband and myself. We just had another beautiful baby girl two weeks ago and I do not know if I should let her sleep with us or make her sleep in her crib. I prefer both actually. I know there is the fear of rolling over on them but motherly instinct, I do not believe I could do that. If she so much as skips a breath, I am right there upright holding her. What is everyones input on this? Do your have a family bed or do they sleep in their own rooms? If they slept with you and you transitioned them into their own bed, was it difficult?

I would think having them in bed with you would be better in case of a nightmare. You can eliminate the walking or should I say running from one room to another, they are right next to you.

Well, we thought about that but I feel guilty with the older one in bed with us and the younger one in her crib. I just do not want to have to break another one out of being in bed with us.

I should say that it depends on what kind of behaviour the kids have. My daughter cried a whole year when she tried to sleep in her own bed. When she slept in our bed, she slept. Nomore walking around with her, out of bed after an hour and that four times a night. So that worked, for her and for us. Now she sleeps in her own bed. And that is good.
