Cousins from mother's side, vs from father's side

June 17, 2023 12:56am CST
I have noted that cousins from mother's side are more friendly and helpful than those from father's side. This observation has struck me and I would like to know the reasons behind this phenomenon. Could you please chip in and confirm whether you noticed this trend? If so, what do you think is the rationale for this phenomenon?

No, I did not notice this trend at my side of the family. My cousin from my father's side is the most friendly.

Good for you. I can see that you come from Switzerland in Europe. Someone hypothesized that the tension between cousins results from resource conflicts, real or imagined. I guess you do not have such conflicts in your settings.

@msabliss I live in Switzerland, but I am Italian. Family tensions exist in every part of the world.

It has a lot to do with upbringing, and also just having different likes and dislikes, personalities, and such. I have not ever noticed that cousins are more friendly on one side than on the other.
