I am on a mission to uncover the culinary secrets of all you foodies out there! So, tell me, what was the first dish you cooked in your life?
Did you whip up a classic grilled cheese sandwich, or maybe attempt to create a gourmet 3-course meal with full honesty?
As for me, I remember my first cooking experience very well - it was an omelette that looked more like scrambled eggs and I forgot to put salt in it.
But hello, every great chef has to start somewhere, right? I'm just glad that burnt toast isn't a dish, or that would have been my go-to recipe. So, whether your first dish was a masterpiece or a disaster, share your story and let's have a laugh together! Who knows, maybe we can even create a recipe book that starts with "The First Cooked Dish: A Collection of Kitchen Fails." Now that's a cookbook I'd definitely buy!

I don't remember... I started cooking when I was 13, around 47 years ago.
My omelets still look like scrambled eggs. I've never been able to get the eggs to flip to make them look like an omelet.
I wrote out a cookbook as I learned how to cook different things. It's an interesting read.

@stapllotik I get tired of cooking sometimes but I still will because we still need to eat. Sometimes we'll buy frozen foods at the grocery store so I don't have to cook all the time.

@DaddyEvil I can certainly understand how tedious it can be to cook frequently. Nonetheless, kudos to you for still making the effort to feed yourself and your loved ones. Sometimes, taking a break and exploring other options like frozen foods can be a great way to break the monotony of cooking and give yourself some much needed respite. Remember, self-care is equally important as taking care of others..

Well, it sounds like your omelets are the rebel eggs that refuse to conform to societal expectations of what an omelet should look like. Maybe they're just trying to challenge the norm and express their individuality. Whenever,I refer a cookbook , my family orders pizza

@LadyDuck At least your spouse stuck around, , so I guess love truly conquers all... even terrible cooking. Congrats on 52 years of marriage and hopefully edible meals!

Thank you, Amber. French toast is a delicious and simple dish that can be an easy introduction to cooking. I hope you enjoyed making it and learned some valuable skills in the process.

I don't remember the first thing I cooked after we got married, but it wasn't good. I had never been taught to cook, so my poor husband suffered my learning years. Note to all parents: TEACH YOUR CHILDREN TO COOK!

Absolutely, everyone irrespective of male and female must learn how to cook. if at first, you don't succeed at cooking, try, try, try again. And maybe invest in a fire extinguisher, just in case.

Well, that explains why I always find coffee grounds in my oatmeal and rice grains in my coffee!
