is there such thing as silence?

I don't think there is such a thing as silence, because there is sounds all around whether it be nature sounds, sounds of the house or outside sounds. Silence is only a figment..something we strive for.

We all talk about silence but I doubt that there is or can be complete silence. Certainly there are times when people cannot hear a thing, but often animals can as their hearing is different to ours. Silence is humans is possible but complete silence I do not think is a fact.

Guess I'll be the one to go against popular opinion. NO. The air moves around us, moving the leaves in the trees. There is a sound beyond the spectrum of our human ability to hear. Could it be an animal crying it's pain or lonliness? I highly doubt there is such a thing as true silence, there are more things beyond our preceptions than there are within.

Supposedly silence can only exist in a vaccuum. There will always be background noise of some kind. Even deaf people supposedly register the sound of their own blood in their mind. I honestly don't know, it's nothing I've looked into other than casually. I'm more interested in the vizualization of nothing.

Yes, there is but its really rare these days. There's so much noise. I live in the country so its pretty quiet here, but you can always here something even if its just birds.
