Scammy spammy

Last week or the week before, I got an email titled "Got You" in my inbox. I read it and it said that the sender had my password (didn't say which one), and that they had taken over my webcam and had video of me watching pornography on camera and the things I was doing while I was watching it. Well, I don't watch porn videos, and I don't do anything in front of my webcam that I would be embarrassed to share, so I clicked "spam" and sent the email to oblivion and forgot about it. Then today I got on a Teams meeting after work, and then later I got on a Zoom meeting. Well the Zoom meeting wouldn't let me turn my video on because the camera was already in use. So I freaked out just a little bit because I recalled the spam email, and I could see the light showing that my camera was on. And then I remembered my brain, and that I had been on a Teams meeting. Well, I couldn't find where I had Teams open, so I opened Task manager, killed teams, and was then able to get my camera to work on Zoom. Problem solved. So sorry boys, there are no videos of me circulating the internet showing me watching porn and what I might have been doing while watching it. Also, I'm not sure you would want to see my 65 year old self doing such things anyway. Crisis averted! PS Dumb joke that I once heard: What do you call birth control after 50? Answer: Nudity

That’s a really funny line. Those emails are so dumb, and I wonder how many idiots fall for that. Are there really that many people doing that on webcams?

@DaddyEvil People keep getting emails about that Nigerian prince, and I wonder if anyone falls for that. I guess if it’s just a couple of people that do, it’s worth it in the end for them?

Apparently so or the scammers wouldn't keep sending out those emails.

@AmbiePam Not too long back there was an article online about old ladies thinking they were really helping some guy somewhere... So yeah, people really do still fall for that. And yeah, as long as anyone is still falling for it, it must be worth it to keep sending out the emails.

@dawnald Yeah, I know... I feel sorry for people that do fall for it, though.

Hey! I was still damn fine looking at 50, even up to 65. (A guy told me he thought I was the sexiest looking 65 year old he'd ever seen -- of course, I had all my clothes on and it was getting dark out).

I mean, I don't do that stuff, and if I did it certainly wouldn't be with the laptop open...

And averted quickly. At least as much as it could be with a 10 year old laptop.
