I like manga a lot. Reading it is one of my favorite pasttimes. As to your question about the meaning of manga, well it simply means comics, but if you want the meaning of the individual letters, the first kanji used in the word means cartoon while the second one means pictures or brush strokes.

I read Naruto, Shaman King, and Full Metal Alchemist. They're quite entertaining. I always get weird looks because they read backwards. That's a pain, because then I have to explain what manga is, and I feel like a complete dork while I'm doing it. Grown-ups reading comics aren't exactly normal.

I read lot of manga when I was in Japan.I loved Dragon Ball as well.It was my favorte TV show/comic when I was kid as well :)
Manga is..mm..hard to explain!!lol
Manga is used proper sign, symbol and expression with movement line etc to make us(reader,viewer)understand/imagine what is going on without seeing an actual action.so you have noticed that there's a lot of details going on such as expression to situation in Manga.
I think "Manga" has a lot of meaning and would be hard to explain in one way :)

I think it came to where I live,USA was late also.
I was like..."WOW..I've watched this when I was 8" and people says "It's just came here!" lol
Yes I guess it isn't that easy to explain the roots and true origin of Manga.I actually looked up the meaning but it didn't really make a good sense..lol

im not sure what's the difference between manga and anime however i guess i love both of them. my first touch with them wwas sailor moon. i still like the serie, i even watched it with real japanese actors (but was so stupid) and i like slayers too. generally i like every comedy anime (or manga) made in japan.

well i explain you the difference. the word "anime" takes origin from animation, so anime is an animated movie with japanase characters. Manga means literally "random pictures" (finally i found what does it means) and they're japanese comics .Very often very popular mangas are turned into an anime serie like dragon ball or evangelion. Me too I watched sailor moon, my sister has the comics of them too. but my favourite one is dragon ball!

I usually prefer the anime over the manga. Back in highschool, I buy manga twice a week. As of now, it's been months since I last purchased one. Yet, the manga is more complete than the anime. And in the manga, there are no filler episodes! =P

Mi piacciono un sacco i manga!! :)
Visto che sei italiano te lo dico in italiano....
La parola manga significa letteralmente "disegni in movimento", poi in giappone ha assunto tutte quelle sfaccettature dei fumetti, poi si è specializzato in "shonen" e "shojo", letteralmente "manga per ragazzi" e "manga per ragazze"...e così via!! ^__^
