There are those who argue that a smartwatch is the ultimate accessory, adding both convenience and style to any outfit. They love the convenience of being able to check notifications, track fitness goals, and even pay for purchases right from their wrist. But, there are others who see smartwatches as a gross extension of our already tech-dependent lives.
So, where do you stand? Is your smartwatch an authentic addition to your life, enhancing your experiences and making things easier? Or, is it a gross symbol of our societal addiction to technology?

I only have a normal watch that I bought after the burglars took the watch that my husband had given to me. That one was one that I had to wind up every night. No need for a smartwatch here.

@stapllotik It worked fine until the burglars took it.

There's something classic and timeless about a traditional, wind-up watch.

@marguicha Too bad, such classic stuff was no match for their criminal intentions.

No, I don't use one, but my kids love theirs and are always looking at their texts and info on them. Sometimes, when technology seems so far advanced, my daughter says, "the future is here."

Does it have a geofencing feature, to get alerts when they crossed a specified boundary? Also some smartwatches programmed to track a child's location in real-time.

@stapllotik I'm not sure, I call them kids but they are really adults, so I'm not sure if they would appreciate me tracking them.

I'm old-school, I still use a tape recorder and I write letters on a piece of paper.

I have looked into getting one, but I don’t see the need. I carry my phone with me everywhere I go, so I don’t really see a reason to blow $700 on one.

Ah, but have you considered the convenience of having all your notifications and calls directly on your wrist? No more fumbling for your phone in your pocket or purse during a meeting or exercise routine. Plus, smartwatches can track your fitness and health goals more accurately than a phone alone. It's like having a personal assistant strapped to your arm. Just something to consider

My son wanted to present me with a smart watch but I chose the usual trendy Titan watch as I liked its design a lot.

Good decision, There are numerous functions in smartwatches like for instance monitoring health and well being (note: these are not clinically validated). Which means there could be errors in the result. If your smartwatch indicates your heart rate is rising, you may become unnecessary worried and anxious about your health.Similarly if it shows you have slept poorly or taken fewer steps than it can lead to feelings of inadequacy and restlessness. Hail to analog watches!

@stapllotik Senior citizens like me should therefore stay away from it.

People are so glued to their phones already, and now they have to constantly check their watches too? It's like we cant escape technology even for a minute.

@stapllotik nope and that's the way they want it, they want it to be installed inside us in the future.

@hillhjill it is possible that sensors could be integrated into the human body to track various health parameters.
