My eldest bird left the nest again today.
I feel rather complicated about it all. I hope she does well. I worry about her a lot and don't know that this decision is the best, but I just have to let go of that and trust that she knows herself better than I do. I'm thankful that the transition went smoothly this time around and hope that it's a good sign.

I had a little time to prepare, so it was easier this time.

It is hard to see the fledlings leave the nest, especially if the circumstances are less than ideal.

It is. I'm glad that this time went better than it has in the past.

I truly hope for the best for your eldest birdie! My daughter is 18 and just graduated high school . . . she still has a lot to learn . . . but I am having to let go of things little by little as there are things she needs to learn on her own. As a parent, it's hard. Keeping my fingers crossed that your daughter does well in all her endeavors!

@spiderdust Parentdom has some difficult moments for sure - I can understand all the worries. Through all that, I hope things will work out for your daughter . . . I'm glad it is a good different this time. May she stay safe and happy in her journey!

At 18, this one quit high school and ran away from home, and was on the street for quite a while before she asked us for help and came back. There were a few other times where she took off without telling anyone anything and we didn't know where she was. This time was thankfully different.

Letting go is hard and I don't blame you for being conflicted about it. I hope everything goes well for her, too. I'm sure, if she needs something, she knows how to get in touch with you and ask for help.

@DaddyEvil I hope so too! She had a bit of drama over baggage check, but it was quickly solved.

I heard from her a little while ago, she's finished traveling for today and is in her motel room for the night. Tomorrow she continues on to her destination.

@spiderdust Kids leaving home and going out on their own. Here parents let their grownup kids in the house for as long as they want

Which part is the strange concept? Kids leaving home and going out on their own, or a different part?

It's very hard when our birds leave the nest! I felt a deep lost, on both occasions:( Do I still see them? Yes, they are both happily married adults now. Your daughter will do just fine!

@spiderdust My son moved out three times. He always held down a good job, so we allowed him to live with us. Then, he met Kristine! Bye bye Chad:)

I hope your daughter does well and finds happiness in her decision. I read about the difficulties you had with her. I'm so sorry you all had to go through that. Hopefully all will go well. Have a wonderful day.

That was truly hard for me when mine left, one by one...very hard. I know life is all about changes and of course we raise our children to be strong and independent...but it is just so hard when they leave our nest. They come home again at times, but of course it's not the same. But we have to let them go. It's just not easy.
I love your picture, Kelli.
