I will have to wear a mask today if I go out as the air quality where I live is very bad. This is due to the wildfires raging in my country. I'm in my seventies and I don't remember ever being concerned about wildfires. One more thing that is threatening the health of people. Are you affected where you live and why do you think that wildfires is a concern these days?

Yes, we're affected by the Canadian wildfires. Are you in Canada?

Yes, I am! Because of the many fires, the air is more polluted and at times it can be hard to breathe.

@just4him So true! Since there are fires burning out of control in many parts of the earth, we are facing another plague that is making life difficult in these last days.

@kanuck1 I'm sure it can be hard to breathe. Even as far as Wisconsin is from them, we can smell it here too.

I'm not sure, but I think in Canada, the long cold and snowy winter must put out all the wildfires. It's terrible what happened in Hawaii.

It sounds like you are close to the wildfires. I live in Southwestern Ontario, we have had our fair share of smoke float down our way, but are not close to the actual fires. It is a different feeling today, this Canada Day, as many are fearful that our beloved country is burning from coast to coast practically. I hope that everyone takes note of the global warming which has caused a lack of rainfall.

I'm not too close at the moment but the wind is pushing the smoke here and the air quality is affected at this time. This is the first year where so many wildfires are burning. Hopefully we'll get some rain to help us out!

Not the smoke, but the haze from the Canadian wildfires reached Switzerland two days ago.

Is the haze affecting the quality of the air there?

@kanuck1 - No, the quality of the air is good. It rained during Friday and this morning the sky is clear and the air is clean.

There was smoke here in Washington, DC. We were advised to wear a mask. I could smell the smoke. Just yesterday smoke drifted into DC. The airs clearer today.

Same here, the smoke was in the air and I could smell it and it made it hard to breathe. Wearing an N95 mask helped a lot!

I am sorry you and so many others are affected by this. I guess dry conditions contribute to starting these wildfires, as well as an occasional careless person, and even lightning strikes. My life is not affected by these fires, but I know so many Mylotters are.

Yes, they say that many fires are because of human carelessness and stupidity.

Yes, it was quite hazy yesterday and once in a while you would see some smoke wisps although I think the particles were there all day just out of view. Why can't they put those out? Doesn't flame retardant put it out?

I think the unusual dry conditions and the lack of rain are fanning the flames to dangerous levels.
