What did you think of the new Little Mermaid? / myLot

It's one of my favorite Disney films so I was excited to hear about the live action. They casted Halle Bailey which looked nothing like the animated version so some people were against it. I was shocked too but I just waited for the movie to come out since I always like to give everything a chance before judging... And I really liked it, I loved the additional songs, there was also an improvement to the 'contract' and most especially how Ariel and Eric's love story developed. I do miss some parts of the animated one, like the grand castle and Ariel's sisters singing, but overall, I can't wait to see the movie again on DVD

I loved the animated version, but have not seen the live version. I was happy with the casting of Halle Bailey because my nieces get to see a Disney character with skin that looks close to theirs. For little black or multiracial girls, this is a big deal, and I am glad to see you support this.

My nieces are adopted so representation really matters for them.

That is so nice, I hope they saw this one, because it is a good adaptation. It's so sad that many were quick to judge it just because they do not like the casting.

Halle sure is talented.
