Thousands of illegal fireworks seized!

Two weeks ago there was a massive fire at a storage unit facility near my home. It's unclear what started the fire initially, but a unit filled with fireworks caught fire and set off ALL of the fireworks. 50 storage units burned to the ground and the contents inside were destroyed.
Two suspects were identified (and arrested) during the investigation, and police discovered around 38,000 pounds of illegal fireworks in storage units (presumably in units that survived the fire), plus over 13 ounces of methamphetamine for sale, over 200 grams of cocaine for sale, a semi-automatic firearm, and approximately $4,800 in cash.
But it's still unclear what started the fire in the first place.

Woh, that is insane . I hope no one was injured/killed in that fire . . . we've seen on the news of explosions and such happening with massive fireworks that were stored in homes. Good they were caught and hope that means the end of their dealings there.

@spiderdust Ugh. That's terrible to lose everything you have like that . . . some stuff unreplaceable I'm sure. I wonder if insurance even covers any of it. Don't these storage places even check what's being stored . . . crazy that THAT many fireworks could be there undetected!

No one was injured or killed, but many people lost their belongings. Some people were getting ready to move and had put everything they owned in storage.

@spiderdust Oh my gah . . . we live in a world with layers of crazy crime where one thing leads to another - unbelievable! It's good that they caught all that were involved with this, but in the meantime innocent people have to suffer .

That sure is a lot of fireworks and I am glad they got all that confiscated, I shudder to think what would have happened if all those fireworks started going up.

@spiderdust so glad it ended as well as it did. That looks like a war zone,

@RasmaSandra On the other side of those trees at the bottom left is the local senior center. It could have been really tragic!

@spiderdust We already had a ban for private fireworks, but we are voting the next Sunday to ban ALL fireworks in favor of "non noisy" light works.

I do like that some places are moving towards lighted drone shows instead of fireworks. Seems safer and more environmentally friendly, but they're still quite new.

It is a shame that some persons like to break the laws of using illegal fireworks which caused a building to be destroyed.

I remember hearing the explosions and assumed someone was just setting off fireworks during the day. Apparently it was pretty scary for the people who lived across the street!

@spiderdust I know what you mean in my former neighborhood there was some neighbors playing with fireworks and I was afraid that one of them would hit the home.

Some renter lost an antique piano from the 1800s. It's all so sad.
