Soda Savings Challenge

I mentioned that I charge myself $1 for every soda that I drink. Doesn't matter if it is a bottle or a can. The only rule is I can't buy 2 liters, only 16oz bottles and 12oz cans.
I have a container and every time I open a soda I have to put $1 in. When I am running low on soda I pull from that container to buy the next container of soda.
This first month I'm going to pick up a case of cans from Sam's Club for $17 for 36 cans.
Spend $17, buy them each from myself for $1 which means a $19 profit to roll over to the next container I need to buy of sodas.
I'm starting with bottles because that was what was on sale and I was desperate.
I don't drink coffee or I'd do this as a charge per pot made.
At the end of the month I will count what is in my container and put everything over $40 in an envelope that is in there for my surplus. I'm keeping $40 in case there is a good sale so I can stock up.
I figure if I worked at an office I would have to buy the sodas from the vending machine so this way I am the vending machine.
At the end of the year I am going to see how much I've saved doing this.
I am getting the money from things I sell on facebook. Today I made $12. So now I am up to $15 in my "future soda money" envelope.
It is just one way that I am doing to save money.
