Using Feliway Diffuser for Brendel

For several years Feliway has been available at pet stores, vet hospitals, and online retailers. Classic Feliway is an exact replication of the facial pheromone in cats. And Feliway was first introduced to vets back in 1996.
When your cat rubs her cheeks on an object, a behavior called bunting, she is rubbing this pheromone on the object. It's your cat's way of saying, 'this is mine, this is my space, I feel safe here.'
Classic Feliway comes in plug-in diffuser formulations, sprays, and even wipes. The diffusers can cover up to 750 sq. ft. and can last up to 30 days, making them the most economical home products. And this product can help many issues including, scratching, aggression, and stress in general.
I have been using this product for over a week now, for Brendel's dementia and yowling at night. Too soon to tell results, but she seems to be calming down a little at night. She is not waking up every hour like she was a couple of weeks ago. Time will tell if this product will help her. I certainly hope so. We both need some rest. And her pacing is so difficult to watch.
Hope you are all doing well. Will catch up as time allows. I wonder, have you ever used this product, and if so, did it help your pet?

One of the pups was 14 and a half yrs old and when I came home from work one day I saw her laying sideways in the kiddie pool trying to run. I didn't have a choice but to put her down, I've always lived alone and I certainly didn't want her to drown while I was at work.

I have never seen this product, but I have not been looking for it either. I applaud you for doing this for Brendel and I do hope in the long run it helps.

So you wouldn't need a diffuser?

@misunderstood_zombie I need the diffuser to use all night plugged in beside her, to try to help the yowling and confusion. You can buy wipes or spray for many other reasons.

So hard to get through each day and night. But I will do whatever I need to do for her to be comfortable. Can't really tell for sure but it seems to be helping. She still wakes up every hour, or every other hour on some nights. Just for reassurance it seems.

I hope she never gets to the point that she forgets who you are. I understand. Sophie was very sick for a while and I was so worried about her and the vet tried all and the one thing that perked her up was that we were moving from the place we both hated and she began to eat and gained weight and she and I both will have a porch where were are moving to next. I am not a mover and hate it but had to do it and do not know how long we will be at the new place so would like to find something in that area if have to move again and hope we can settle down finally. I hate all that goes with moving and packing is very hard when i do it myself and the boxes get messed up. Lately because of my situation I have extra work to do. Thanks but so far she is ok and I hope she never gets things and stays with me a long time. She is a survivor like me.

I certainly hope that this helps Brendel. It's so frustrating when you can't help a fur baby. I hope she is able to sleep the night with this help.

That is such a good idea. I should get one for my dog to calm her down from barking. I truly hope this helps Brendal at night.

I have heard of it, and I know one of my friends considered it, but hasn't yet. Her cat is 16, and is failing.
I was wondering how you and Brendel were doing. I'm sorry, it doesn't sound like you are getting much sleep. I know this is a hard time for you.

Sorry about your friend. I thought why not give Feliway a try. Grasping for straws at this point. And I will not put her on those strong meds the vet suggested. Every day is a challenge. Even during the day she will just look at me through the window. And I go out and sit with her a few minutes. Then she goes back to sleep. Just needs reassurance I guess. Thank you Marie. It is challenging.

I have never heard about it but I am sure glad it is helping Brendel Hugs and all the best to Brendel,Since things around here are usually quiet if anything does upset the cats I have found litter I use for them which has calming rose water and a chamomile scent, When the box is clean and I scope everyday Morticia will spend some time lying in there,

Well, I am not 100% sure it is helping just yet. I just started it about a week ago. She seems a little better but still up and down at night. Just not as vocal as she was. I hope it is helping. Definitely worth a shot to keep trying it. Dementia will not go away but I try to keep it from progressing too quickly if possible. Glad the litter helps yours.

Mike and I have thought about buying this before but didn't. Buttons would be nervous even times when we were with her. Ginger would be aggressive. But these occurrences wouldn't last too long, so we never got any. Now you have me wondering if I ought to consider it with Ginger and her sometimes waking up acting confused in the wee hours of the morning.
Keep us posted as to sweet Brendel's adjustment with it.

I finally decided to give it a try. This one should last about 30 days. I should know by then if it is working, and will buy refills. I am planing to do whatever I have to for her to be comfortable, without meds. You could use it here and there, unplug it when you are not using it. I say what do you have to lose. I got mine from Amazon. Had 30 days free prime, so also got free shipping. They also have wipes and spray to use as well. Good luck and hugs to Ginger. They seem to get lost in the morning hours before daylight. Thank you as always Dena. I will keep you posted.
