What is Paula Deen up to these days?

I'm cooking zucchini and onions to make a squash casserole based on a recipe that I learned about many years ago on Food Network from Paula Deen. Remember her? She was the Southern home cook who unabashedly used butter, oil, and all other delicious and non-heart-healthy things. She was on Food Network but also had several restaurants, a magazine, and various product endorsements up to and including mattresses if I remember correctly.
She used to be a beloved celebrity cook. She started to fall off of her perch when she made an endorsement deal with a diabetes medicine. It was incredibly hypocritical after years of pushing high-calorie and fatty food. She hung on, though, until racist comments by her became public. She might have even survived that but for her team's poor PR response to those racist comments. She filmed several video apologies and the outtakes and early versions somehow were released to the public along with the final version. It made the whole thing look incredibly insincere and just like that *POOF* there went all of her endorsements and her contract with Food Network.
I haven't heard anything about Paula Deen in many years. I'm sure she is doing fine as she already had more money than she knew what to do with. I hope she is enjoying her time in that beautiful house on the water in Savannah.

Southern squash casserole is a family-friendly way to get kids to eat their veggies! This simple recipe calls for summer squash, Vidalia onion, butter, sour cream Parmesan and cheddar cheese. Top with crushed buttery crackers before baking.

We ate at her restaurant in Myrtle Beach years ago. The food was okay, but except for my own, they fried the best okra I've ever had.

@NJChicaa I love my fried okra, but I wish I knew how they made it so crispy outside, yet tender inside.

We certainly don't have to worry about her financially since she has a net worth of more than $16 million. I'm actually surprised it's not more.

Public celebrities are more prone to fall for such mess as they are always in public eye. I have planted zucchini this year in my garden. I got one fresh one and the first one few days back( made a post about it) and the salad was yummy. We can see two more coming up.
