Dinner Cancelled

The wonderful weekend I expected to be happy because my two daughters came home became a nightmare. They arrived home Sunday morning at around 2 in the morning. I waited for them that late because I wanted them to eat the supposed dinner they requested. The came home that late because my eldest had a team dinner at work and as expected did not eat anymore and decided to sleep while my second daughter ate a lot while we shared some stories. Hubby planned a dinner on Sunday but my 2 daughters had to meet their friends and told us that they were just going to follow us. I was doing some ironing of clothes when hubby interrupted me to prepare. But when I already got dressed he decided to cancel the dinner because of his frustration upon knowing that the two young ladies were going to be late. So its a disaster! Photo is mine: The frustrated Dad!

I'm sorry your weekend didn't turn out well. Your kids are on their own now and have their own plans. Every parent goes through what you did when their kids leave the nest.

That is what I am also trying to understand and making my hubby understand it too but it seems so quite difficult for him to understand that. Maybe soon he will

This sounds quite typical behaviour for young people. They will have more time for their parents as they get older. Having said that, it's a shame they ruined your weekend,

@JudyEv Yes of course. He always wants to spend quality time with the kids no matter how they have grown up

@cherigucchi I can understand that some fathers would feel very hurt and upset.

I´m sorry for you. Even the best of daughters don´t think about their parents feelings at times.

I would also be upset, our daughter should have been more considerate.

@cherigucchi It would be nice should they also have an understanding heart for their parents.

I'd cancel, too, if they didn't care enough to be on time.
