Did you do anything stupid yesterday? Or: A lesson learned.

The photo is of the old Scott tube amplifier that drives my bedroom stereo system. Yesterday I noticed that a channel was out, and sprayed all of the knobs and switches with contact cleaner. At one point, I sprayed a bit high and got some contact cleaner on the walnut veneer top of the cabinet, which I had restored months before.
Oops!
The contact cleaner ate through the Orange Oil and left an ugly mark. Fortunately, I was able to fix the mistake. I let the contact cleaner evaporate and then applied a bit of orange oil with 0000 steel wool to the affected area. It's fine now. The corner to the back and to the right on the unit was left un-oiled on purpose. I like to leave all of my projects "almost done," so I can finish them up when I'm bored. Weird, huh?
Did you do anything stupid yesterday? Was it fixable?

My memory is shot or I could probably recall something. Glad it's okay now.

I don't think I did anything stupid yesterday... or maybe nobody noticed and brought it to my attention. *shrug*

@TheHorse We're often more critical of ourselves than others are. I hope, when you reach adulthood, that you'll eventually outgrow that.

@DaddyEvil I wouldn't count on it.

You did manage to rectify the things quite rapidly.
Sometimes we do end up doing mistakes.
I sometimes accidentally spill something on the floor and have to clean it with a proper cloth.
Or if I get late in starting something, I spend extra time in attending to things.

I confronted someone who was harassing a friend of mine a bit too harshly. Actually the mistake I made was touching their shoulder to draw their attention to me in order to get them to stop being crazy.
My friend did not appreciate my intervention on his behalf, despite the fact that he had complained to me about this person in the past when she bothered him before. I do not regret my decision to intervene, but the way I did it was clumsy, incompetent, and in the end, stupid.
I wish you well on fixing your stereo. That is a problem that I would enjoy carefully investigating by taking the thing apart to look for the breakage, but I suspect that you may wish to spend your time in other ways.
