Turkeys everywhere!

No, I'm not talking about any political figures. We have wild turkeys running around our apartment complex. The group I got closest to was a hen and four babies. Except the babies are already as big as your average chicken. Do you have wild turkeys where you live? They seem to be everywhere in California. I honestly can't remember if we have them in Montana as well, but I assume so. The photo is from my friends house a couple of years ago.

We do not have wild turkeys here, those poor animals are pretty ugly.

They must think each other pretty "hot." They make lots of babies and sometimes block traffic. They are not the smartest birds around.

@TheHorse - Turkeys are native of your country, Europe had no turkeys before America was discovered. We do not have wild turkeys.

We have them here. A man that lives nearby has a bunch of them. They come and visit us sometimes at odd hours.

@celticeagle They're just funny critters. I think they should retroactively be named our National Bird from 2016 through 2020.

We don't get turkeys in this part of CA . . . I don't think I've ever seen 'em on hikes anywhere. At best we see the teeny chicks in our local feed/pet store (in a glass case with lights - mixed in with the chicken chicks and baby ducks).

Yes, we have turkeys here but they stay out of the city. I'm surprised hunters aren't catching them there.

@TheHorse Oh, that's too bad... How are you going to get a Christmas or any other holiday turkey when it's not allowed?

We don't have wild turkeys here. My mum used to rear them for sale at Christmas.

COOL picture. We have turkeys here; but I don't see them very often. We saw a whole bunch of hens when we were in Erie PA. They were right in front of and around the car. Enjoy your day.

@TheHorse And I had left my camera at the motel because I just thought we were going for breakfast and coming back. Sigh.

I think that's what landed on a Hamilton neighbor's gate post earlier this summer. It stayed there for several minutes, but Mr DeMille wasn't ready for her closeup.

Such a cute group of turkeys. I have not seen any but then there are enough of the two-footed kind stumbling along the streets, Apparently, you could set up a wild turkey farm. On the net, it says there are 120,000 wild turkeys in Montana,

I haven't developed my picture from yesterday yet. But that's about the size of the current babies.
