Today I was completely spoiled, and it was so nice.

I mentioned that today, I got someone to check in several times on my son and went to my daughter's home, she lives about 10 miles away. She and her husband and I had a day, for sure. We went to a nice store and they bought me 2 pair of pants and 2 shirts! And they fit, they aren't too big or too little. So exciting for me, honestly. They are in the washer right now--I have to wash new clothing before wearing them. Then we all spent about 2 hours at the bookstore, just browsing with our coffee and enjoying ourselves so much. We went to Michael's, as she needed some things from there, and when we finished, I was informed we were going out to eat. I tried to say no, that's not necessary (he is such a good cook, we usually just eat at their home.) But my protest fell on deaf ears.
We went to a steakhouse and had steaks. I had a filet mignon, broccoli, and salad. I hadn't had a steak of any kind in months and months...it was so, so good. We went one more place, plus Target, to get a few items they needed. Luckily, it wasn't busy or crowded. I was treated not only to the new clothes, but when we got back to the house I was gifted a bottle of really nice fragrance, some new Penzey's spices, and a candle that smells wonderful.
I feel like a princess! I tried to protest but that didn't work. They said they felt badly they had not been able to do much since his parents had required several months of their care until recently, and that they wanted to do some things for me.
Truthfully, it was better than Christmas and I feel very special. I truly did need a small break, but I never dreamed it would be this nice of a day.

I'm glad you enjoyed your day out with you daughter and SIL. It was very nice of them to treat you to a special day out.
I hope your son was still doing fine when you got home.

Honestly, I almost didn't go. He had such a bad week, the ER the other night, and so forth...but he slept most of the day, his friend went twice to check on him and called him once, and he said he was resting--I'm glad because he hadn't slept much lately at all.

Wow, what a special day for you! That made me happy just reading your discussion. Everyone needs to be pampered every now and then, and I'm glad you got a chance to have one of those magical days. I'm sure that made you smile from ear to ear.

Jeff, I don't think I ever realized how important that recharge time can really be, until this long, hard go-around with my son. I keep telling myself he will get better soon...it eases my brain. And there's hope, but it's a hard time for us.

It was so good to get away and just...be me. Don't get me wrong, I love all of my children, but I am well in to year number 2 in caring and feeding my son, and sometimes I just get so, so tired. It really helps to get some ''play time'' in once in a while.

Oh, I am so glad! That is so great to hear, and it must have thrilled them to be able to do that for you. I also commend you for allowing them to do it; my late mother sometimes got sad when her mother wouldn’t allow her to do something nice.
I know you think you’re just being a mom, but you deserve to be treated like the queen you are, and I am so happy that they were able to do it. You’ve reared wonderful children on your own, and in doing that, you’ve managed to make the world a better place. It is wonderful to see that recognized.

They had a rough couple of months lining up full time care for his parents. They really did have their hands full.
