Taking a Dam Hike

Check the spelling before you get all upset at my language.
The hike to Beaver Dam is one of our favorites here in Pocahontas State Park. From here to the dam and back is a loop of nearly two miles. We went this morning before it got too hot. The air temp was only 73F/23C. Not bad for a hike until you factor in the 93% humidity around here this morning.
After the hike, we sat out in the Clam for a while, cooling down and hydrating before washing up and heading to town.
We visited two restaurants as part of our search for someplace to take the camping club next Friday. The first was a no-go. They were too small to accommodate our group on top of having a limited menu. The second was a definite maybe. A Mexican Restaurant with delicious food, friendly staff, and a large patio seating area for good weather and a decent sized dining room should the weather turn foul.
On our way back, we stopped at a grocery store near a gas station. While K picked up a few things at the store, I gassed up the Beast for our trip to Richmond tomorrow.
Now we are back at camp, relaxing and staying cool. 88F with a 99F heat index is not conducive to taking another hike.
Have you enjoyed your Saturday?

I'm awake for a little while in the heat of the day. (It's 84F with a RealFeel of 99F at almost 3 pm.) I will go back to sleep in a little while.
Hope you're enjoying your day.

@DaddyEvil They should have, yes, but I've been in their shoes. You set out hoping the rain holds off and accept it gracefully if it comes.

@DWDavis *shrug* The people in the tents should have known the same weather information you knew when you set out to go camping. Rain is always a possibility. (One reason my "camping" experiences always included a hotel/motel with good air conditioning. I'm just not that into the outdoor experiences.)

@RebeccasFarm We will be hiking past the dam again when we visit the Civilian Conservation Corps Museum located here in the park. We missed it last time we were here.

I am enjoying my Saturday since the gentleman came in this morning to cut our lawn.

@DWDavis The grass looked great after it was cut by the employee who cut the lawn since my next door neighbor has his lawn cut as well as the previous day.

Glad you were able to take a hike while it was still tolerable. The US is melting as we speak!!! The Mexican restaurant sounds like a good choice. Drive safely and enjoy the rest of your weekend.
