OUCH !! MY FINGER WAS STUCKED

This happened days ago . I just woke up that time and mom asked for help to lock our gate because she will go somewhere with my younger brother. Our gate was always on padlock even in the morning because there were reports of robbery in our neighborhood even day time. So I went for the keys and opened the padlock and then opened the gate knob . Everything was fine until they left , I closed the two doors of our gate and boom!! My finger was stucked in the gate knob and it hurts!! I immediately pulled my finger out and I thought it was cut off its so painful , when I.looked at it , its red and swollen and with a little blood . It has an open wound and was really painful even if its just small. I also forgot that I was really sleepy that time hahaha . I cleansed the wound with soap and water and it stings its painful and then I applied alcohol to disinfect it because our gate knob is metal and there were little rusts on it Im afraid I might get some infections. Now its healing , it still stings when it gets wet but I can tolerate it now. Just a question , when you have wounds aside from washing it with soap and water and applying alcohol and some medicine what other things do you apply to lessen the stinging sensation? Creams? Soothing gel?

I like to keep Neosporin on hand to put on any wound I might get. After I would wash out the wound, putting Neosporin on it keeps it from getting infected.
