Will I or won't I?

Food and diets are popular topics here in My Lot land. Last week my visit with my sister woke a sleeping part of my brain. What is a diet? Why diet? Diet on what? What would eating doughnuts all day do to me and for me?
Can exercise be a diet? A long time ago I knew a man who said he was addicted to exercise and the adrenaline that exercise provided.
I put in thirty minutes in the kiddo pool this morning. My legs and back are telling me about it.
And then there is Rufus. His DNA demands that he must work. Nope. No cows to herd at my house. What is work to a dog? Rufus knows a bunch of words.
I packed in a couple of heavy bags of groceries this afternoon. That packing meant I didn't have the ability to pack in a bottle of laundry detergent. This evening, right before dark, I found a little bag of cat treats. I put Rufus on the twenty foot rope and walked him out onto the sidewalk in front of my house. I told him to sit and stay! then I walked off, long leash loose in my hand. He had trouble concentrating so we played that game three times- cat treat for a reward. I told him to sit, stay, leave it! and I walked off, tossing a treat on the ground. He did pretty good with that one. He ran like crazy when I yelled Find it!!! We walked together to the car. I had him sit and stay a few feet away while I worked the trunk lever. Brain exercise. We also practiced his ability to back! when told. Brain power. Concentration. Rufus came into the house after this ten minutes of work and laid down for a nap.
Diet for me can mean eating less calories than I take in. It can mean I am standing and using leg muscles to be upright for ten minutes more while I work with Rufus. Its the fresh air and stand up diet. On I go, heading out on my last exercise of the day: up seventeen elderly steps to bed.

Well, it is exercise you wouldn't normally get and even the extra brain workout will burn calories. I hope this works for you.

@AmbiePam Thanks. I just need to keep telling myself that even standing upright for five minutes is still exercise. And not ignoring Rufus's needs, even if its just up and down the block for fifty feet, is exercise for both of us. I'm not sure what advice you want? Telling me to quit and go to bed is okay, too.

@BelleStarr I'd like that. I have a bench but no couch but I'd find a way to make you comfy.

Rufus is such a good boy. Any movement is good. Your pool exercises qualify. Enjoy your day.
