Got new bedroom windows - Forgot I had this view!

Room with a view

Hi guys, My bedroom windows have been semi-broken for the past few years or so. You know, when you try to open them they stay partially open (Pella windows) and the only way to slam them back shut is for someone to go out on a ladder and do it from the outside. After a while, you just learn to keep them shut. So my 2 side windows facing the lake have been closed with blinds down, and one even had a huge piece of cardboard over it because of the South wind draft.. it gets especially bad over the winter. Now with these new windows, I cannot believe the beautiful view I've been missing out on! I forgot all about it. See pic And last night around 1 a.m., I woke up from a "kind of"-nap and the breeze coming in off the lake smelled like when you're on vacation somewhere like Myrtle Beach or Florida. Usually Michigan lakes have that "lakey" smell.. but not last night. The air smelled like I was in a hotel somewhere. Have you ever gotten something back that you've totally forgotten about? For me, it's a view! An old view. That became new. Old view became new view.

I love the view from your window. It feels so peaceful and make me want to make a writing. Is that possible you forgot about that beautiful view on your window because if I have a broken window and my view got closed I might be sad for years missing it. but you can see that again. that's a relief.

A Lake outside of my inn
Your post reminds me about my work on 2021 when I took a rest in some inn nearby the lake. here's the picture in the morning when I woke up and try to get the view. It is Lake Toba from Indonesia.

You'd be really pleased to have such a lovely view back again. I wouldn't be going up a ladder to shut a window too often either.

Yeah, that's why I just kept them closed. Hey Judy, even my cats are impressed. They're like whoahhh where are we? .

I am glad you have your beautiful old view back. When they prune trees, for a couple of years I miss their beautiful shade in summer. They have fully grown back this year and I am enjoying them.

@Melanie_Marie No one can see our home and our garden when the trees are tall and full of leaves. I like this.

I know what you mean, I love the free shade you get from trees. It's like a nice, protective blanket right above you. Thanks @LadyDuck

I’m so jealous you have such a great view! But also happy for you. I know you’ll enjoy the scenery and the wonderful breezes. Is that a reflection of Jaws I see in the window? Oh wait…I enlarged the photo and saw that it was a life preserver. But it sure looked like a shark when I first glanced at it!

@Melanie_Marie I live inland. I’m about an hour from the closest beach. There’s zero breeze where I’m at, unless a hurricane is hitting! Haha. And my grand view from my window is a meadow and some woods behind my house. So yes, I’m totally jealous of your view!

That's my polkadot life-saver! But I can see how you saw it. Hahaha Thanks Jeff And what do you have to be jealous about.. you probably get that breeze (and view) every day down there in sunny Florida

It certainly does look like a lovely view, and you describe it very well. I don't think I have an example to compare to though. I also never considered a "lakey" smell, although I know what you mean.

Yeah, it's quite different from the smell of the ocean. Which is why it was so surprising to get that "oceanfront" scent flowing right through the screen into my bedroom! Thanks @AmbiePam My whole room seems brand new, all because of these windows
