A sad story involving LaMancha goats

I wrote about LaMancha goats, a breed noted for an almost complete lack of ears. One of the principal goat-breeders that developed the LaMancha was Mrs Eula Fay Frey who lived in Bell, California. Her husband had developed stomach ulcers and she put him on a strict diet, a major part of which was goat milk and tomato juice. This apparently cured him but unfortunately he died a few years after in an car accident. I can’t help thinking what bad luck to have to endure such a diet and then die in a car crash. The photo is of one of my nephew’s newborn Angora goats. She has nice long ears, hasn’t she?

People with stomach ulcers aren't supposed to have tomato juice. Tomato juice has as much acid as oranges. And no, I'd rather have the ulcers. I don't like goat milk. It's a pretty goat...

I was really surprised that tomato juice was supposed to have cured him but that's what I read. I guess I really shouldn't believe all I read! lol

@JudyEv That's just weird that she'd give him tomato juice.

I think the tomato juice was mixed with the milk to reduce the acidity.

Yes, she does. Tomato juice for stomach ulcers? Sure, why not? And while we're at it, let's have some battery acid as a chaser.

Maybe they are born with long ears and the ears don't grow much after that. Like puppies with big feet.

That's a shame about Eula's husband. I'm surprised he had tomato juice for an ulcer. It's very acidic. Cute goat. Enjoy your day.

Goats are cute.... very sad about that diet. And then to survive only to die in a car accident. I eat two tablespoons of rice with curds every night to keep my ulcers from flaring. I have them thanks to my love for pickles.

I'm glad you have a way to control your ulcers. They would be very unpleasant I'm sure.

That is one really cute goat, I f I could have a goat I would have it just for the cheese alone. I love goat cheese but too expensive to buy all the time,

I sometimes wonder why my nephew doesn't make cheese but I think he is too busy looking after so many goats.

Sweet baby goat. My Dad had ulcers. He talked once about being on a banana diet.

You'd think tomato juice would be one of the worst things for stomach ulcers.

What an adorable angora goat. It is sad that he passed away in a car accident. At one time I had stomach ulcers and there is no way I could handle tomato juice. I wonder if something in the goat milk helped when he drank the juice.
