Congratulations to the Teamsters for winning an incredible new contract for UPS workers

UPS workers were within weeks of striking when the company finally put a reasonable offer on the table. Employees are getting good raises, better contributions to their retirement, and air conditioning in delivery trucks. Basically the UPS workers got everything that they wanted. I've been a member of a union for 22 years. In all of that time we've never reached a contract without hitting impasse and having to have a mediator involved. We've done job actions that don't affect the students or their education but that still make a point. My building, in particular, is full of renegades that are ready to do anything to make the point. Jeans days on Wednesdays wearing school colors? Yeah we called it a spirit day. My ex is very anti-union and I was like "um it protects my job and salary which goes into OUR bank account". I'm happy to read that the UPS workers have received a good contract offer. There absolutely is strength in numbers. I pay a lot in union dues each year but it is absolutely worth it for representation in front of administration, for contract negotiation, etc. I think we all will be happy that UPS isn't going to strike next month.
