Every day these stingrays come to the shore to eat. There is the smell of fish that attracts them. The fish seller cleans the fish and throws the head and little fish part on the shore which attracts them. Have you ever seen a stingray so close? It nearly touched my hubby. I saw him running away like a baby lol. He didn't know there were stingrays on the shore.

Pretty and I fed stingrays in a "living museum" not far from where we live. (It's like an indoor zoo there and we used to go there a lot before the pandemic.)

@BabeSays It really is something fun to do. We haven't gone since the pandemic started, though. There's also an exotic animal park not too far from us, too. We've never gone there.

I pet a stingray once, about a year and a half ago at an aquarium. They had a bunch of stingrays at the end of exhibits, and they told us how to touch them without getting hurt. It was really cool. But I would have probably have been like your husband if I had been near one in the ocean!

You did. That's so cool. How does it feel like? Are they slimy? I am so afraid of them. When I was in school they said it was dangerous and the part it touches can rot. I was so scared at that time. Their tail is what's the most dangerous believed everyone in my class including our teacher.

@BabeSays It felt smooth and spongy really, not slimy at all. The “spine” was hard though. They were in a big, open tank, and you just put your hand in the water, and kept the touch to their back. You don’t rot anything by touching it, but they probably told kids that to keep them safe. After all, on rare occasions in the ocean people have been killed. Because yes, like you said, that tail is the problem.

@AmbiePam Wow spongy you say. You are so lucky you touched it. I guess you're right my teacher was the one who said it. I guess it was to keep us safe during our excursion. Or maybe he didn't want any kids in the water so he said it to keep us dry.

No, I have never seen a stingray except at an aquarium. I have seen jellyfish.

Yes, when walking in the water in the Bahamas, they came so close, one even "touched" my feet.

@thebos Yes they do the fish (the left part that is being thrown into the sea). I watch a document the other day and learn that they also eat softshell crabs, worms, clams, oysters, snails, and shrimp.
