Do you really research your hotels when traveling?

While reading reviews of hotels for my next vacation, people complain and have expectations of services that dont exist at that kind of hotel, like room service or valet in a 2 star place for example. It's so funny but please do some research of where your going to know what your getting

Welcome to mylot, I hope you enjoy your time here. Yes, I always check reviews as well. It seems to help.

@JimBo452020 We have had some bad surprises in the past about hotels. Funny thing, most of them then were in Florida...but haven't had any bad issues in the past few years if we stayed in one. You must hang out in better places than I do, or have better luck.

@MarieCoyle I usually stay within 2-3.5 star hotels, anything higher is not in my budget plus I don't need fancy, just clean and well managed

@Deken00 I don't need fancy, either. I do, however, want to be safe, and stay in a clean place.

Welcome to Mylot! Yes, it seems ridiculous to be dissatisfied because you aren't getting what you obviously are not paying for. Because of the higher prices these days, they seem to expect more from the place even if it was never intended to be even close to fancy. Everything is going to be overpriced these days; even subpar motel and hotels.

There's a lot of no housekeeping complaints too, which I believe was put in place after the pandemic. I personally don't care for people coming into my room when I'm not there, but to each their own

When something I cheap, I don't expect much from it. If I get a good service, then that's a bonus! Expect what you pay for. But if I paid for a 5 star Hoel, then I expect a 5 star service. Otherwise, I'd leave a bad review.

@Deken00 These type of people only want to gain, very selfish. If they could get a free lunch, they would. If they don't, they complain.

Absolutely, although some people expect 4star services in a 2star plus hotel. Maybe some people don't understand the star ratings for various hotels and which amenities comes with those

Welcome! It depends on the motel. If I am doing a road trip and have my dog with me, I will put up with a not nice motel. If I am on a plane trip to somewhere historic I might put up with a funky motel if it is near the sights. I also have really enjoyed Bed and Breakfast wowser places.

Yes, I always do. I read some reviews about the hotels, and I do some comparisons between some hotels.

I do if I need to but I am scared to stay even in the finest hotels because of bugs.

Yes, getting everything planned out is better. Want to avoid bad hotels, or fully booke hotels.
