Do you use this program?

I was wondering if any of you guys belonged to the program Amazon Vine? I got an email from Amazon this morning inviting me to join, but I wasn’t sure if it was worth it, and I figured there had to be Mylotters who belonged to it. I don’t often order from Amazon, but the last couple of times I did, I wrote reviews of what I ordered. So this program offers you certain things for free in exchange for a review. I don’t have any intention of reviewing anything super pricey because I don’t want to pay taxes on it, but I thought the inexpensive items might be fun to get for free, and review. Some of you have never ordered from Amazon, but if I can find something cheaper, I’m probably going to choose to get it from the least expensive option (like the 8 Greens that helped my migraines I wrote about here). Anyway, just let me know if you have been a part of that before, or if you think it would be worth it. Thanks!

I have a couple of writer friends who are part of this. I would love to be chosen for that. You get all kinds of free stuff just for reviewing the items. Good luck!

Thank you, Linda. It makes me feel better to know someone who is legitimately familiar with someone who has done it before.

It says it's an invitation only app for people who do a lot of reviews, that wouldn't be me.

Yeah, which made me suspicious, because I don’t do a lot of reviews. I bought two books a Mylotter wrote, and then reviewed them. All of a sudden I got that invitation, and I’d never heard of it.

Maybe there aren't many sales on Amazon right now ..... I mostly buy on Walmart.com.

@rebelann You are probably right. I do all my grocery shopping at Walmart, and I used to go to Walmart.com a lot.

We shop on Amazon a great deal because of the prices and convenience of delivery. I often leave reviews. However, I have not heard of the Amazon Vine program. If it is on the up-and-up, it seems like a neat way to try new products.

I feared it was a scam email, but it sounds real. I saw a clarinet as a free option. I think I’ll pass on that though.

@DWDavis Thank you, but I don’t know really. The last two reviews I did were of books a fellow Mylotter wrote for children. You are on my list to get to as well. I did get one review rejected, and it happened to be the only harsh review I ever did. It was just of a vitamin I had a bad reaction to!

@AmbiePam I was intrigued, so I looked it up. It is legit, but not easy to get into. You must have left well-thought-out reviews.

I haven't heard of it. I buy a lot on Amazon. I've written many reviews, but never got an offer to join this program.

I had never heard of that program, but that does sound nice to get some items for free in exchange for a review. Didn't know you would have to pay taxes on them! But I have never had to pay taxes, so I wouldn't know.

If they go over $600 worth it counts as income, and if it gets much more than that, you have to pay taxes. I will not be doing over $600.

@MommyOfEli2013 I know. I found this out when I was 18, and won a trip to Australia and New Zealand. It counted as income, so I had to pay taxes on it. How do you do that when you don't have a job, and make no money because you are in college?! I found a way.

@AmbiePam But...it's free! lol. The world is so unfair! I wouldn't be able to do over $600 either.

That sounds interesting. I have ordered from Amazon. And some shops there actually ships to my country for free as long as the minimum amount of order which I think is $49 is met.

@AmbiePam Yep. There are things that I could buy only from amazon. The free shipping started only last year before December I think.

I just found out about it when they invited me to join. Apparently, if you write reviews they think are good, Amazon invites to join a program where they will send you products for free, and you keep them. You just have to write a honest review of the product. You can select any item offered, up to three a day. So far, I only selected one item, a $20 product. I do not want to get something so expensive I have to pay taxes on it. I don't often write reviews though. I thought maybe some Mylotters were members, and they could tell me more about it. I was concerned it was a scam, but apparently not.

I have read that customers who consistently write insightful reviews for Amazon are most likely to be invited. I think it's a good idea to join.

You are such a good writer that I bet you are invited to join if you write reviews. I didn’t know about it before today, but from now on I’m going to try to write more reviews. I just hadn’t written many to this point.

That sounds like it would be fun to get some free stuff and write a review about it. I've ordered from Amazon but never heard of Vine. Maybe because I never write a review??

I hadn’t heard of the Amazon Shopper’s Panel either. Let me know if you end up on Vine. I requested my first free thing to review. You can select up to three things a day, but I only want to select something I might use more than just a couple of times.

I use Amazon but I do not buy enough for that and not sure I would even if I did. My sister and brother have Amazon Prime, brother does not order that much either but sister does. Sad to say, if it is cheaper I will most likely buy it from the cheapest place. I only buy things I normally need. Very rare for me to buy something that I do not need, unless its like a video game or music or movie. I did shop at Target and was amazed at how much more expensive Target is on certain things. They wanted 50 bucks for a pair a levi's and that was on sale, normally 60 bucks. I go I knew inflation was bad but not that bad.
