Now, I Need a New Plan

After a relaxing morning with coffee, a book and myLot, it's time to swing into action. Vacuum, wash floors, laundry. And the power went off. I was prepared for that last night during a storm. Not now while the sun is shining. Hubby drove down the road and spotted the line fuse that was tripped. First, a frustrating half hour, on line, trying to report it. Then an hour (maybe only half an hour) on hold to the power company, they now know about it. Maybe three hours to send someone to fix it. Time for toast. Oh no, I can't have toast. I'll sweep and wash floors. Oh, no running water. I was going to wash windows, no running water. Time for something uncooked, plug my phone in, in the truck and head to the garden. I won't even notice the power is off. Hopefully it's on before the three flushes are used Is your day going as planned?

Hope they get your power back on quickly. That's the one thing I fear when we have bad storms and wham the power goes out. The other day our power went out while I was sitting in my power recliner. Nope couldn't close it and I was stuck

Oh my, comfy place to be stuck. Hubby was in the basement, pretty dark. Bright and sunny today. No storms. So don't know what it is until they send someone out.

Hope they get out there and get your power back on. I’ve had a busy day doing laundry and cleaning.

They did. It was off for about 3 hours. Plenty I could have done while it was off, it just throws me off.

@paigea My power went off a couple of months ago. It was dark. I couldn’t watch TV, couldn’t read so I went to bed.

I think it’s gone mostly to plan except for the two shots in the rear. I hate it when the power goes out.

@paigea Glad to hear it. I remember our power went out on a sunny day because some yahoo decided to cut down his tree. Usually it’s always weather related.

@AmbiePam they didn't tell me what caused this. We couldn't see any reason and it was just the line to the two homes on this road. So we can see no one did anything. Our neighbour isn't even home. Sometimes it's a bird.

No power - argh! Hopefully it'll come back on sooner than expected. At that point, you're forced to unplug, but in a way it's a good thing . . . you'll get other stuff done.

@paigea Of course that happens, right ? Times like that we realize just how much we rely on electricity .

Your house sounds like it is all electric like mine. You can do very little when the power is off. At least you are not in desperate need of heat or AC.

We do have natural gas furnace and hot water heaters. But the furnace fan is electric, and the water pump is electric. So yes, pretty stuck when the power is out. We do have a generator, but furnace fan and water pump aren't wired in a way to be able to plug in to generator. Something we could change. We didn't bother with generator today and power was back in after 3 hours.

My day went along with no firm plan in mind. I do have my task list, and did accomplish most of the tasks on the list.

No power for the pump. We have big camping jugs full of water. And plenty of rain barrel water to flush. And it's just us without power. We can go to town to get water if need be.

Whenever the power goes off, my first thought is to do the ironing while I can't do anything else. DUH!!
