Day 19
Zechariah 4:1 Now the angel who talked with me came back and wakened me, as a man who is wakened out of sleep, 2 and said to me, “What do you see?”
I said, “I am looking, and there is a lampstand of solid gold with a bowl on top, and on the stand seven lamps with seven pipes to the seven lamps. 3 Two olive trees are by it, one at the right of the bowl and the other at its left.” 4 I answered the angel who talked with me, saying, “What are these, my lord?”
5 Then the angel who talked with me answered and said to me, “Do you not know what these are?”
I said, “No, my lord.”
6 He answered and said to me, “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the LORD of hosts. 7 ‘Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel, you will become a plain! And he will bring forth the capstone with shouts of “Grace, grace to it!”’”
8 Moreover, the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 9 “The hands of Zerubbabel laid the foundation of this temple; his hands will also finish it. Then you will know that the LORD of hosts sent me to you. 10 For who despised the day of small things? For these seven rejoice to see the plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel. They are the eyes of the LORD, which scan to and fro throughout the whole earth.”
11 Then I answered and said to him, “What are these two olive trees at the right of the lampstand and at its left?” 12 I further answered and said to him, “What are these two olive branches that drip into the receptacles of the two gold pipes from which the golden oil drains?”
13 Then he answered me and said, “Do you not know what these are?”
I said, “No, my lord.”
14 He said, “These are the two anointed ones, who stand beside the Lord of the whole earth.”
Do you ask questions when something is difficult to understand? Do you ask until you receive an answer?
Zechariah spoke with an angel who showed him the temple with the golden lampstand and two olive trees on either side of the lampstand. He asked him what these meant, and the angel told him the lampstand was the eyes of the Lord that goes throughout the entire earth, and the olive trees were the anointed ones who stand before the Lord. The eyes rejoice to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand.
A plumb line guarantees the foundation is straight. Zerubbabel laid the foundation of the temple; he would also finish building it. Zerubbabel represents the civil authority who built the temple, not with the weak power of human strength, but with the power of the Holy Spirit.
As Christians, you look to your authority, Jesus, who works in you to build a foundation of spiritual strength, a building not made with hands, but by the strength and might of the Holy Spirit.
His foundation in your life is plumb, straight. Your life is built on the sure foundation of His Word. Therefore, rejoice because He works for you and is always with you. His eyes are always on you, they see everything, represented by the lampstand. The lampstand is the Father, and the trees who stand with Him are the Son and Holy Spirit. These three live in you and work in you to keep you on the path leading to eternal life.
Jesus was never without the Holy Spirit or the Father in His ministry.
Matthew 3:16 When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him.
17 And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” (NKJV)
Just as Jesus was never without the Father and the Holy Spirit, you are never without them.
John 10:27 “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 And I give them eternal life, and they will never perish; neither will anyone snatch them out of My hand. 29 My Father, who gave them to Me, is greater than all; and no one can snatch them out of My Father’s hand. 30 I and My Father are one.”
John 16:7 “Nevertheless, I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.
You know you have the Holy Spirit living in you. You also have the Father and the Son working in you. These three are the Lampstand and the Olive Trees. Together, they make you spiritually strong. Their might live in you, work in you, and keep you safe as you do their work.
Colossians 2:9 For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; 10 and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power. (NKJV)
Not by your strength, but by His.
Let’s pray: Father, thank you for Your Word that helps me grow in strength and power by Your Holy Spirit. Thank you for letting me know I am never without You. Let me always rejoice in You, my strength, and my Redeemer. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Great Bible study.
I recently saw a couple of videos on YouTube. One was 5 Bible translations you should avoid, and one was 5 most accurate Bible translations. Which Bible translations do you use, and which would you never use?

I use the New King James version. Though I edit it because of all the capitalization in the middle of the sentences. I don't know which translation I wouldn't use. I don't know all of them. I'm most familiar with KJV, NKJV, and NIV.
Have a blessed day.

@just4him Thank you very much for your reply. The KJV, NKJV and NIV were 3 of the translations said to be the most accurate. Some of the ones to avoid were the Message, The Passion translation, the Good News Bible and the Living Bible!

@sharonelton That's interesting. I've heard people read from all three. One other that I like is the Amplified version.

There are many hidden allegorical stories in the Bible, and when one is explained as it was here to Zechariah, it is eye-opening to all who read it, even now, as well.
Jesus's explanation of the parable of the sower, to his disciples, was another eye-opening revelation for all who read it too.
