A dog from a stranger

I was at a park one day in the afternoon when a guy with his dog showed up. I guess he was walking his dog.
The dog was so friendly and playful as it jumped to me and started to try to lick me on the face.
I tried to avoid it but the guy who owned the dog laughed and said to his dog to keep doing it. He praised his dog for its action.
I like dogs, but I prefer to pat and rub their head and body.. I don't really like if any dogs that I don't know well lick me on the face.
Finally I left the park after I said bye to the dog, not to its owner.
Do you let any dogs from strangers on the street lick you on the face?

Yet, you let your cat lick your face. Just kidding giving you a hard time. I hate cat licks. Their tongue so rough, . Like sandpaper. Its like you have road rash when a cat licks you.

@jstory07 That's cool, that is the good thing about cats, they not big lickers but do stuff like that. Some dogs do overly lick. Kai very rarely licks, Brooklyn likes to lick your feet but its not very often. Do not ask me why she likes to do that. I usually think its her way of telling me I want to go for a walk. The puppy likes to lick a lot, you would hate her.

No, I don't let dogs get close to me. I'm allergic to animal fur. Any dog that tries to lick a stranger on the face is badly trained. You should have sternly told the dog to stay down and pushed it away from you. You should have told his owner that you were offended by the badly trained dog and moved away from them at once.

That was indeed wrong on the part of that stranger to encourage his dog to lick you I would not like any unknown dog to do that to me.

No I keep my dogs as far from people as possible. They very nice but do get overly exited some times. They older now, so not to bad, but when younger it definitely put people in uneasy mode and plus my dogs are pretty big. Kai is huge her paws about half the size of my hand. She could give small grey wolves a run for their money in size. She is very nice though.

No I will never let to do that. I feel that's unhygienic. Our face is very sensitive and dog saliva can cause skin issues. I love to rub their head and dog enjoy that. I feel that happy. But the owner should also take care of his dog to not lick person who is not comfortable.
