Escaped emu returns to his home in Indiana

Sam Messmer who is the owner of Messmer Farms in Linton Indiana is grateful that his emu named Rigby escaped from his home two weeks ago.
Sam was on a hiking trip at the same time his emu ran away from his farm and was seen running on a highway to Jasonville Indiana for the period of time that he went missing.
Sam had help to capture Rigby by using traps to catch Rigby. A rope managed to trap Rigby when Rigby was near his farm.
Rigby became a celebrity during his time on the road since one farmer was selling tee shirts on Etsy with the likeness of the emu.
Sam learned his lesson since he has plans to install a larger fence in his farm. It is kind of odd to see a flightless bird running around in Indiana.

I have seen emus run on the streets on television news shows. They have a strange way of running.

Our emu is occasionally still spotted and is still out there living his best life here. He’s been running around loose for a year now!!

When spotted, he is usually photographed from a distance, and appears to be fine. He just doesn't want to be caught!
