It's bread time again. And it has a heavenly aroma!

It's screaming at me, that bread is. It wants to be cut and eaten right now, I just know it. With butter, of course.
I can't. First, it's too warm to cut correctly, and secondly, I do not need a slab of warm buttered bread at 2am. I have to be boring and responsible, as I have used up nearly all of my calories for one day, and I need to go to bed shortly.
But it's so, so hard not to cut into it!
This is pumpernickel rye. It's just the best!
*picture is mine, and I hope it shows up*

Yay!! The picture shows up.
It's so tempting to look at that yummy bread. Not thinking to eat it is impossible. I am sure it's going to haunt you in the dreams too and you will wake up super hungry

Why is it that the foods we love have to be so tempting?

@MarieCoyle I am a foodie. And I love so many of them and tempted by them. But my diabetes forces me to be disciplined.

Thank you. I love dark breads. They have so much flavor compared to just basic breads from the grocery!

that looks good. I have almost no patience with things like that. Depending on what it is I made sometimes I just cut into it hot or not and don't care how messy it'll look because it doesn't change the taste. Sometimes I'll let it cool but a lot of times I just cut right in and don't care how crumbly or messy it'll be. I was craving brownies the other night so I made them and while I could have let it cool to make them easier to cut I didn't and dug right in and have no regrets. I was good and only ate one brownie but I wanted it and didn't want to wait for it. The downside is I had set aside one for myself for later and my husband ate it. I need to learn to hide things better.

Yes, every woman needs a tiny place to hide chocolate and stuff...from husbands, children...yep, hunt you a secret place.

@MarieCoyle It really is a beautiful looking bread - now if only I could taste it . I'll have to look into breadmakers. It is a wonderful memory you've created with your kids . . . having mom's bread will ALWAYS be the best !!

Unfortunately, after years of making bread dough, my wrists really scream if I have to knead it. And a big batch is truly hard to knead. I am trying to save my wrists and hands if possible so I have been using the knead cycle in my breaddmaker for that, even if I do bake the bread in the regular oven.

I baked this loaf in my breadmaker. I don't always use it, but I did this time. I do freeform my loaves when I make more than one loaf at a time, and then bake them in the oven. (I own a wild amount of bread pans!) And yes, warm bread can be a horrible temptation. When the kids were young, if I made bread and they were around, I had to basically have an extra loaf for them to slice and eat right then--but they still remember that. So, it was worth it!

Oh, bakeries are dangerous territory. It's just hard to try to go past a bakery, anytime.
You should have protested and demanded donuts! or whatever they made that you loved!

I still made my own, even when I was alone a lot. I just froze part of it each time. Most mornings, I do like my piece of toast. Thanks, it is really good!

I just utilize the freezer if I need to. Right now our store bread prices are just way ridiculous. Almost $6 for a loaf of rye bread, I may as well just make my own at that price. But I do get what you are saying, Judy.

Come on over, and we will share it for lunch tomorrow!
I had one loaf of bread made when my friend called Saturday and said she was coming unexpectedly. She loves it when I make bread, so I gave her the one I had just made, and the one I had made and froze. That left me with about 2 slices of bread, so I justified baking this evening. Usually, I bake earlier in the day, but this worked out--and for some reason, it just smells so good! Thanks, Judy.
