Hi, MyLot. I was visiting many place that held a contest on Indonesia's independence celebration day and even this event held every year but I don't feel bored to see many young man or adult competed in many contest. Yap, as you can see on the image. It is Tug War (in Indonesia called "Tarik Tambang"). please not to be confused what you had see at Squid Game movie. there is no horror in this contest. the rules are simple, 2 teams keep puling the ropes to their territory. the one who can pulled other teams down is the winner. Imagine this contest held in bright day and dusty ground. two energies pulling each other at the different way (Let's hope the rope not broke because it happened sometimes) until one of the team can dominate the opponent. Many sub-district still have this contest this year and the prize is variate depending how much sub-district have the prize for contest their held. Many other contests called climbing slippery pole. It's a team effort contest. the team must have at least one to reach the peak of the pole. the pole called slippery because the put oil to make the climber fall. the one way to solve the contest is a team work to put a barricade and climb every shoulder until reach the peak. the prize usually put at the peak of the pole such as bicycle, electronics, etc. the one who will get the prize is the one the pick up at the top of the pole. the hight of pole usually 5-10 meters. There are many kind of contest that can be joined by kids and woman such as eat crackers without holding, put a nails on the bottle by using hips, marble run (running contest by put a marble on the spoon and sip on the mouth, the marble must not fall from the spoon), sack run (running by insert your feet on the sack.... but you must jump with it, not run ), and many other competition that held and keep increasing every year. The competition not based on strength alone but you must use many ideas to win it. the contest held by creativity to entertain visitors. it was not about winning or losing. so, is there any idea of contest that can be held next year? comment below.
