But not the way you think. First, a confession. I didn't get out of bed until 9 a.m. I don't know when K got up. Second, more confession. I didn't go downstairs for breakfast until lunchtime. In between, I started working on a major cleanup project. The thing I'm cleaning up is the hard drive on my old computer. I'm cleaning it up hoping to find Abby. I haven't. I did learn how to network the old computer to my new laptop this morning. My incentive for doing so was the way Dropbox seems to have lost some of the files from folders I transferred through it last night. Networking the two computers together means I won't suffer this indignity again. Have you ever tried networking two computers in order to share files or for another reason?

I'm beginning to think I imagined there was more written. There should have been a trace of her somewhere in all these files I've been through if she'd really been there.

@wolfgirl569 I do have the short story that was, or so I thought, originally chapter 2 or 3 from the longer draft. It's quite a puzzle.

@DWDavis Maybe you dreamed the story but never started it

No, I haven't tried this. I'm pretty good at word-processing but that's about it as far as computers go.

It took some trial and error, changes of settings and a few choice words, but I got them to talk to each other in the end.

@DWDavis Sometimes I guess you just have to be stubborn/patient/determined. lol

Yes, I networked my old laptop with the new one because the screen on the old one was dying. It was the easiest way to transfer files for me.

Transferring the files was the main reason I wanted to network these two machines.

@DWDavis It's a lot easier machine to machine than it is working through the cloud.

I am finding it harder to say abed these mornings. Even if I wake up at six, I have to get the kettle on for tea and while I am there the cats demand breakfast!

K took care of the dogs and then kept Sophie with her in her office downstairs.

I hope you find Abby. I've never networked two computers to share files. I usually just put what I need on a flash drive and then insert it into the other computer. Have a good week.

I have done that in the past. These two machines are right here in the room and I use both most days. Networking them seemed the sensible thing to do.

A very long time ago when one PC was on the blink and I needed certain files to keep working. Now I work on my desktop PC which has all the info I need and have my laptop beside me for entertainment,
