New week here and it's been raining since Thursday and the rain today is heavy so classes are suspended. I'm excited to open my store but there is no classes today. So I hope for a sunny weather. I want to sell streetfoods so I practice making calamares or fried squid last Saturday and it turned out delicious but the problem is how can I price my product not to make it expensive for buyers. Happy September. May God be with us this new month

Wow I like calamares.. Hmmmm You have to list all the expenses and then see how many you can make per kilogram of squid... From there, you have to add some profit... I think they are selling it here for 10 pesos per 3 rings...

I saw frozen squid rings in the supermarket and they are different sizes. Some are big some are small. I tasted it and it is soft and taste good. 1 kilo of squid is 287 pesos with around 65 squid rings.

@brokenbee Since it is my first time, I will also try those in the wet market. The squid ring I tried is soft and tasty. I will also try those available in wet market to see the difference

@averygirl72 But it's a bit expensive. I think it is cheaper if you buy in the wet market... If one kg is 287 with 65 squid rings, that's already 4.42 each. How about the other ingredients?

You are home already? I thought you are with your mom assisting her? Anyway, the rains have been going on torrentially and are even getting stronger today as classes were again suspended because of those torrential rains.

@averygirl72 Yeah, I guess it's time to relive your business back again. I hope classes will resume as normal once again. The rains seem to have subsided already and classes are resuming already.

I would calculate what it costs to buy and prepare the food then add enough to make a profit. That’s fair for/everyone.

For the meantime I cannot make a big profit. I need to make it affordable as possible

@averygirl72 But if you don’t charge enough to make a profit your business won’t be a success. And you’ll lose the money you put into the business.

Check your costings them apply mark up, but you have to research for the prices of your competitors.

@florelway I see one site it says 25 pesos for 5 pieces. I think I will just start 20 pesos for the meantime

Good luck in your small business venture. Aside from calamares, what else do you sell? It's good that you offer different street foods as those that have a small profit margin can be offset with those that you can sell for so much more.

You have to at least make a profit. When I sold at the Flea Market I always double the price.

You must make your calculations very well, you cannot pay more than you cash in.
