The Hindus celebrate the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna, the God of Hindus. It is called Krishna Janmashtami. The idols are decorated with garlands. Rice husk is used to give alpona or rangoli. Then flowers and fruits are given to the Lord. Houses are also cleaned up on this day.

This must be a very nice holiday anniversary.
I remember 'Krishnas' in London when I was young.

Yes we had great celebrations for this festival.
The Temples were well decorated.
A few kids and even grown ups petformed song and dance sequence quite well and it was worth watching.
