The state finals are this weekend, and I’ll be heading that way tomorrow to watch the action and wish everyone well for the off-season. I’m not forgetting you, of course, so I’m posting another song that will hopefully make you laugh. Here’s today’s song.
Help Me Find Jimmy Hoffa - Tim Wilson
If you’re on Facebook you’ve probably seen that meme that says something along the lines of, “With self-driving trucks it’s only a matter of time until a truck leaves its owner and someone writes a country song about it.” Yeah, country music invented crying in your beer…then songs about crying in your beer (“There’s a Tear in My Beer”)…then songs about songs about crying in your beer (“Life Is Too Short”).
There’s only so many ways to give a “when hell freezes over” reference; and, unfortunately for everyone else, the Statler Brothers used them all up in the song “Don’t Wait on Me” (“when they ordain Madalyn O’Hair and she becomes a priest”).
So my late, lamented friend, comedian Tim Wilson, found one that hadn’t been used yet: “when they find Jimmy Hoffa, that’s when I’ll come back to you.”
A desperate man has a warped mind (“Willard Scott’s toupee looks a lot like Hoffa hair”), but he wants his old love back!
Tim’s grave marker says, “Christian, comedian, loved to make people laugh.” So have a laugh on him. He’d appreciate it.

He did indeed. It was a toss-up between using this and “First Baptist Bar and Grill” (with that great line, “You only saved one sinner, that was Todd McGuire, he’s the little sumb*tch who set my church on fire!”).

@FourWalls I'd forgotten all about the "First Baptist Bar and Grill." I heard it years ago but didn't know who sang it. I've never forgotten laughing my ahem off listening to it though.

I thought that was yesterday's news and no one cared anymore. I always thought that Hoffa wanted to see how people would react to him disappearing and living in some grand mansion somewhere in South America is he's still alive. If you remember at one time there were rumors going around that Hitler was still around. Well I never believed that but one day stumbling out of a disco with friends in NYC I bumped into a guy who could have been his twin and that kind of shook me up.

He was indeed. Had a serious side, though: wrote a book about Ted Bundy, trying to prove his theory that Bundy committed a number of unsolved murders in Columbus, Georgia (where Tim was from) while Bundy was on the lam. Very detailed.

@FourWalls Interesting. I am sure there were many more crimes committed by him that haven't been resolved.

Someone said “with his connections there’s no way he’s buried in the end zone. Try midfield.”
