A friend of mine has a child with ADHD and she can't seem to keep her calm . She picks fights with her brother all the time and just won't listen ! but yet when she is at school she is doing awsome! is this a case of a child being labled too soon in life ???The pills she is on are not working ? I think that is it just a sign of bad parenting but who am i to judge???

I agree that the issue may be her parenting style. If a child is great at school but acts up at home ADHD is usually not the problem. They can not turn on and off ADHD. My child was out of control at home and at school. I was not going to persue the ADHD issue until his teacher talked to me about what she saw. He did go through much testing, not just his pediatrician diagnosing him. I took him to a Dr. that ONLY sees kids with ADHD and knows his stuff. But, as you said, who are we to judge?

I agree with you as being a sign of ineffective parenting. Your friend has a child who knows no limits at home but yet at school rules were set and followed by the child. If the medicine is not working then she shouldn't be on it.
I think your friend should try some different types of discipline and be consistent with it. Like time out or loss of privledges.
Also reward the good and appropriate behavior consistently too. Children love praise and if she gets lots of appraisal from mom she will want to repeat the good behaviour that got the praise!
