What did you learn too late in life?

It took my whole 23th life to realize that family is the only entity in your life which is not replaceable, unless there is something seriously broken. They would always be there for you in your best times and your worst. Reciprocate that. Consider others temporary. It will save you a lot of pain down the line. I've lost my dad 2 years ago and I realized that my life goes easily because of his 'shield'. Now he's gone and it feels like storms hit me without any barrier.

Aging, you have to rely on your husband, or siblings, our parents do not live forever.

Right! But I haven't married yet. For now mother and siblings are the best.

I am sorry about your loss. It's true that we realise the importance of something pretty late or when it actually goes missing from our lives. I realised the importance of self care and self love a bit late in life. But I am glad that I did. It's better late than never.

@spiritedgal And I think I wasted a lot of my time looking for validation and love from wrong people. I am so happy and relaxed from the time I have realised that self love is the priority.

Bless you, I can understand that feeling. What I feel like I learned too late in life is that I shouldn’t try to force a friendship with my sister. If she doesn’t want to be close, I should respect that, and move on and forget about it. Plenty of other people love having a good friend.

I agree with you on the whole. I mean I guess there are bad families, but in general, our parents are our lifeline. It is lonely without them ..sorry you lost your Dad. RIP I learned too late that your choice of life partner can be devastating to your whole life, choosing the wrong one.
