Free is good

In browsing emails from my health insurance provider I learned that they would send me a free fitbit this program year.
I have not had any fitness tracker for a while. I am hard on them. Plus I always buy cheap ones that do not necessarily work.
I ordered the simplest one. I should have it sometime next week.
My job often has my hands in water or I wear gloves or even protective sleeves. Not sure how that will work out.
I always feel like I am very physically active, but this may show me that I am fooling myself.

Pretty wears a fitness watch. Sometimes when she gets very animated talking and waving her arms around, it thinks she's jogging briskly... A few days ago we got behind an old farmer who was driving very slowly and the watch thought Pretty was running all-out. That was funny, too.

Something similar happened to me. One day I had a few thousand steps more than I normally do and then realized that when I was crochetin the Fitbit picked up my arm movements as steps

I understand about the arms, but not really about the farmer, unless she was wildly gesticulating in his direction.

I have tried those apps on my phone, but often do not have it with me either.

Does your tracker monitor sleep? That's what I want. I hope you enjoy it. Have a good day.

It will monitor sleep. I do not know that I want to wear it all the time. I worry that it may irritate the carpal tunnel and fibromyalgia. It would be interesting to occasionally track my sleep.

@GardenGerty Do you mind my asking what kind and model that you ordered?

I tried a pedometer once but it didn't count most steps... especially if I walked backwards.

When I worked as a nursing assistant I had a good one that I really liked, but I kept knocking it off. I have tried them on my shoe, and on my waist. I just am too clumsy.

Free is good for sure...I never wear my fitbit. I will wear a smartwatch on occasion, but am having trouble finding the charging cord. I might have to order another one. I found one cord that was unusuable, I hope that wasn't it.

Yeah, we often need replacement cords. I am not sure the entire difference between a fitness tracker and a smart watch. I also know that I do not want to wear it in my sleep and have it spy on me. At least not all the time.

Just keep in mind, you should take what it shows with a grain of salt. It can give you an idea, sure, but bear in mind, fit bit, like any wearable, relies on sensors like gyroscope and accelromotor to track things like steps. If it has a heart rate sensor, too it'll use that as well. So, if you're scrubbing dishes real hard it might read those as steps and calories burned. Overall Fitbit is one of the original fitness trackers, and from what I hear, pretty durable.

My Fitbit takes washing hands and doing dishes. I don't see why gloves would bother it

When I read the description it did say it was water resistant. I am more concerned about the physical action of putting the gloves on over it, or even more important the kevlar sleeves I wear.

Free is definitely good and hope it helps you see how your physical activity is compared to what you think it is. I love my Fitbit

I am hoping it encourages me to move more. It would be funny if it counted keystrokes as steps.

I have a fitbit but it is very clunky so I've never really got around to wearing it.
