As sequel to immigration related issues

I explained that it is unfair to expect everybody to pay more taxes so that benefits being offered by the government can be passed on by birthright to the undocumented immigrant's children. I will share that reason briefly once more. I pay taxes, my father too paid, and so did his father. I can presume all our forefathers paid taxes. Even when I am not having taxable income, I contribute to my nation building through work / job I do. So this contribution of mine helps to keep inflation lower. Effectively, I have paid some tax, and of course, indirect taxes like those on goods are always there. All those taxes get used for defense, infrastructure like hospitals, roads, railways, schools, airports, law and order, blah blah, and administration, job creation, etc. Because of the facilities now available to me, the house here, may cost me equivalent to 100000 USD. There is already my contribution of say 50000 therein.through those taxes etc. In comes the immigrant (legal or otherwise). He enjoys all those facilities for which I and my folks have paid. WITHOUT PAYING AN EXTRA CENT. So when I go to buy that 100000 USD house which already has my 50000 in there, he buys it for 110000 USD and I am left gaping. Are you with me in understanding the issue? Now, charging for citizenship as Canada came up with, enables criminals to gain entry. Not that other methods will not enable them, and not that criminals are only born to immigrants or existing legal immigrants / citizens children cannot become criminals. Just that if I have something to lose, I will be careful, whereas those who are criminals already elsewhere, find it easier to migrate if they have sufficient funds. So that route is fraught with risks. Nevertheless, immigration is a reality and quite often desirable too. With aging population, the world does need younger people around, BUT THEY SHOULD BE TAXPAYERS. Not unemployed. Given the high cost of living, many jobs at lower levels become non viable for locals. For immigrants, they are still better paying than what they have back home. Biding time till birth of a child, is honestly shrewd way to eat into the pie of others who have contributed to the nation's prosperity. But throwing them out is no solution either. Many of them are fleeing problems in their country like in Ukraine, and elsewhere. Left there, they may have to take up arms and become part of illegal systems which may actually boomerang. There will be costs to prevent such terrorism, which includes investigation, imprisonment, legal costs, and imprisonment costs. Again taxpayers would be strained, right? Given such a scenario, there should be something called immigrant tax. So what I can buy for 100000 USD, an immigrant should be buying for 150000, USD. That 50000 would help the coffers. Likewise, immigrants can take up jobs that others find non viable. High paying jobs should not be offered to them, their kids, their grand kids, and perhaps great grandkids, for about a century or so. They would be entitled to high paying jobs if and only if there are no others willing to take those. This will keep inflation low and become indirect tax contribution. Throwing them out...does not make sense. Legal or otherwise. They will try to get even. There can be chaos should such a thing happen.

The citizens in your country should come first. Before non citizens.

True.... but as I explained. If we don't allow them to come over, they will become integral part of terrorism or other illegal outfits, which will return to haunt me. Either way costs are there. Sending them away is deferring the problem. My way is to collect taxes. Slowly across the years. Then naturalize them as citizens when they have contributed enough.

I was discussing some matters with my husband today and I told him that it's time that the Governments first take care of the citizens of their country. It is a shame to let homeless in the streets and to send billions of dollars to help other countries.

Maybe we should just make them border agents. I do not mean to make light but is an interesting issue how so many countries struggling with this. Maybe world should tell selected country take care of your people but we know that does not work, but maybe eventually will change their ways.Global economy means global problems. They wanted it this way, now they have to deal wit it.
